Did anyone not have a video for their wedding and regret it.

I really don't want one, mainly cause of the money, but alot of people say you'll regret.... We are using 12th Night for our photographer and they will give us a DVD slideshow, which is nice. Your thoughts.......

I didn't have one and I don't regret it either.
Our photos are fantastic, and I don't look at them as much as I thought I would. EVERYONE was trying to tell me to get one.
There is the other side too, my cousin watches her with her kids, my grandparents are on it and they knew my grandparents before they died, so it is nice for hte kids to see them on the video.

Re: Did anyone not have a video for their wedding and regret it.
Posted by Boston&NY2006 I will probably get flamed for this, but I'll say it anyway. I'm glad I don't have a video to watch because I don't want or need to re-live my wedding day. I don't need to see things I 'didn't see' on my wedding day because I have a perfectly wonderful set of memories of the things I did see, and it's so nice to hear stories from my friends and guests about their memories. I guess I was just never the kind of bride that was going to dwell on the wedding. I have my pictures (which will be nice to look through) and that's more than enough for me and my DH. We almost felt that having a video would take away from our memories of the day a little because they're just that, memories...not something I need to see played out on a screen for me. Just my opinion....
I totally agree with but I did get a video for one reason. Not to relive the day cause it's over and I don't feel the need to, but rather so that I can have everyone that I love and care about on film to watch years down the line, show my kids and grandkids, or after someone I care about passes. It was sentimental for me.

Re: Did anyone not have a video for their wedding and regret it.
I got married recently- I got my proofs and LOVE THEM, but I ABSOLUTELY CANT WAIT FOR MY VIDEO! There are so many reasons why...
1. DH wants to see me getting ready and the LIVE action of the morning of the wedding
2. I want to see what was going on at church before I got there
3. There are so many things that happened and dancing I didnt even realize occurred until I heard stories...there are many pics of them however seeing it actually happening on a video will be amazing
4. DHs grandmother had an anerysm and a stroke and is in a coma-this happened ONE month after our wedding... It will be so great to see her up and at um at our wedding
5. One day, sadly, there will be MANY important people NOT around anymore-looking back and showing my children and grandchildren my wedding will be PRICELESS-they will be able to see my parents and in laws, and great grandparents , hearing their voices, seeing their excitement
6. There are ONLY two things left after the wedding...your pictures and the video (and of course memories) I feel like money should be spent on these two things-and many videos are NOT all that expensive...craigslist is a good place to try-also-Ray from Timeless Treasures has great and inexpensive packages, even if you JUST get the raw footage and not the edited copies...
you should check out a few before you settle on one because I will agree that there can be some cheesy videos-but if you see their work you'll know this beforehand and not book them
Ray -who I used was NOT in the way at all-non intrusive, but yet I KNOW he will have gotten great footage-
I am so excited to see it!
Even if you watch it once-twice a year-or not even-or only on anniversaries...it's so worth it...its not necessarily for the point of RELIVING the day-because thats not it...Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life and one day others will want to see them...I guess for me, it wasnt even a question in my mind to have one-it goes Hand in HAnd with having photographs

I'm so glad we got a video. I'm actually happier with the video than my proofs. The day went by so fast, and I'm really glad I have something that fully captured the emotions of the day. Watching the video also brings back the emotions. I cry every time I watch the video. At the very least, I'd at least ask someone to videotape the ceremony.

I got a video because I have a horrible memory and I feel already as if some of that day has slipped away from me. I was so unbelievably happy that day (which I will alwasy remember) but I feel as if some of it was a blur and I cant wait to relax and sit back and watch the day again. I also wnat to be able to show my children my wedding video ...my parents did not have one and I so wish I could see them laughing and talking to each other and our relatives that passed etc.

I didnt want one just because I thought it would be annoying. I hate them when I attend other weddings. BUT... one year later we realize there is alot we will not remember! I definitly wish we had!!!

i did have one and it was the best decision ever! it's amazing watching yourself walk down the aisle and having video of all your familt members. i love my video and would have been devastated without one. i think they're a very important part of a wedding...it was for me at least

i didnt have one, and i regret it all the time. My pictures came out great, but there was so much of the day that i missed, and it went SOOO fast. That would be one peice of advice i would give to any bride, get a videographer.

Re: Did anyone not have a video for their wedding and regret it.
DH and I REALLY regret not having a video. We loved our wedding day and tried to take in as much of it as we could, but you simply can't take in everything. We LOVED our band but can't remember many of the songs they played or who was dancing when. I would love to be able to hear them on video again. Just seeing our guests enjoy themselves that day brought so much joy to us - I would love to see footage of everyone having a good time.
Also like July06bride said, the video would capture footage of relatives and friends who may not always be with us. We lost a dear uncle recently, and he was at our wedding. It would have been great to capture live action of everyone to show our kids someday...
Worth the investment, I say. Go for it!

Re: Did anyone not have a video for their wedding and regret it.
We decided to get a video at the last minute and we are both really glad we did. We got to see lots of things that we missed during our wedding, mostly family and friends dancing and enjoying themselves. Even though I had a great time and made sure to spend time on the dance floor all night with our guests, I still missed a lot of it while it happened and I'm SO glad I got to see all these great, often hilarious, moments that I would have had no idea about otherwise.
It was really cool watching the unedited footage with my DH and his parents, like someone else mentioned I think they enjoyed seeing me get ready..there were some really nice moments they got to enjoy even tho they weren't there.
I love having the ceremony on tape and also our best man's speech. And seeing the doors open and YOURSELF walking down the aisle (not just pics) is AWESOME I also love seeing the looks on everyone's faces during our ceremony..like my grandma and my parents. I have pics of that but it isn't the same at all.
I think if you are at all on the fence, you should do it!
