I didn't use them for my wedding but I used to go for highlights. They do nice work there and they can be a bit pricey too.

I got my hair done there for a wedding a couple years ago - I was the MOH. But the bride got her hair and makeup done there. They did a great job for both of us. The bride looked great!

It was pricey - I thought for my hair - over $75 for an updo was a lot since I wasn't the bride. They did a good job - I got a lot of compliments although they didn't do 100% what I had asked for. I kind of said what I wanted - a simple messy updo - and specified no curls and they did their own thing and I wound up with a head of curls (they had me facing away from the mirror while they did my hair - so I had no clue until the final product). Everyone loved it though.

They did exactly what the bride wanted and it looked so good.

A few of my friends from Bayside/Whitestone highly recommend the place.

my friend did her trial makeup there and thought it was a tad too overdone... but did her hair there and it looked beautiful. i get my color and cuts there and love the results. people who work there are a bit snooty, but that usually what happens at pricey places.

I know they are snooty, and that's exactly what I hate! But, they are very close to me, and they are open Sundays. I don't like a lot of makeup, and I DO want them to do EXACTLY what I want (no curls, updos, etc). Knowing that, do you guys think I should even bother going there? I don't mind paying, if they are going to make me look good.

IMHO...I can't stand them. lol. I had one REALLY BAD haircut there, followed by unbelieveably rude, snotty customer service...prefaced by someone telling me I should dye my hair blond to stand out more..because brown was so ordinary. Uuuuh.....BITE ME.

Misty - LOL - too funny!! I hate their attitudes as well. I'm just torn about where to go, b/c I don't want to travel too far. Dammit!

Minnie: I like Christie's but can't stand most of the girls at the counter. My MOH's sister and her BP got their hair done there for her wedding and they looked beautiful!

My friend was going to go to Christie's to get her hair and makeup done, but they won't open earlier than 830am. So she had to go elsewhere. (Her ceremony is at 11am) She ended up booking Hair Trap on Francis Lewis Blvd and they're going to open up for all of us at 7:30. They're not much cheaper than Christie's though. I think BMs are $65.

Kragen's does hair but no makeup and they're more expensive than Christies. The only place she didn't call was Salon DeJaVu in the Deli Biz shopping center. Maybe you can try there also.

If you can get past the snobbish attitute of some (the people I dealt with were fine) - I would recommend giving them a shot with a trial if they have the time you want and if they are in your budget. I know everyone told me the shop where I bought my dress is snobby (and they were and I hated every minute of it) but they had what I wanted and I used them anyway! And you will be a bride/ customer - so you can be aggressive if they get out of line! Good Luck to you!
