I felt like most of the wedding was about what i wanted, so i wanted to have at least one thing that was all about him!
plus, i got him really fun wedding gifts!

we had one at the rehearsal dinner, we got one because we had been to a wedding a year before that had one and he LOVED it, it was a baseball cake with our school logo on it so his mom really wanted him to have one similar.....i think it is more of a southern tradition....the only one I had heard of until I moved to florida was in steel magnolias, the red velvet armadillo one haha

I got one for our rehearsal dinner. I didn't go crazy tho with getting one custom made from a bakery. I was at BJ's and saw a cake that looked like a cheeseburger that I thought was really cute, so I picked it up!!

Yes we did. DH and I had a really hard time agreeing on a wedding cake. We both have very different tastes when it comes to dessert. I wanted what I wanted, so I offfered to get him a grooms cake of whatever flavor/filling he wanted. It was a great compromise and he loved it.

We had one. It really is another expense but the cake was so cool looking. We actually just displayed it at the wedding took it back to the hotel and had it the next day at the brunch. That way I was able to have cake 2 days in a row

I didn't have a grooms cake. We paid for the wedding, rehersal and Honeymoon ourselfs.....I just couldn't spend anymore money.
But i think its a clever idea! Since, so much of the Wedding is about the Bride...i think the groom should get some of the limelight.

no, i had never even heard of it until i joined this site.... to me, it seemed like one more thing people think they 'need to have' and i didn't get caught up in all that.
i did some reading on it, and it's actually a Southern tradition. We are both New Yorkers with immigrant parents so it's clearly not our tradition.
Its a cute idea, but it wasn't something we wanted.
