I was listening to Z100 this morning and they were talking about getting engaged and if you would accept a proposal without a ring. This one girl called in and said that she got engaged last night but he didnt give her a ring yet. They are in the process of planning the whole wedding in the meantime and she told him he has until the actual wedding day to give her the ring. Some people were saying if he cant afford a ring he should just wait until he can while others didnt agree.
I agree that it isnt supposed to be about the material things but I know when I envisioned getting engaged I pictured a beautiful ring and DH getting down on one knee.
If DH proposed without a ring would you accept?

I absolutely would have accepted if DH had proposed without a ring, although I admit, I love my ring and glad that I got it when he proposed

My friends sister got engaged without a ring. He proposed and then told her she could pick out whatever she wanted. They got her ring a week later. She was still happy!!

Yea they were saying how do you think the girl woudl feel when her friends ask oh you got engaged let me see your ring and she says I didnt get one.
I personally think I would have accepted the proposal but I would want to wait until he had the ring to make the official announcement.

A proposal is for a marriage. An e-ring is just a symbol of the proposal.
I think I would get engaged without an e-ring. Both of my proposals were done with a ring, but having the e-ring does not make or break a marriage.
I think that for some girls, the ring is the most important thing in a proposal. I feel the most important thing is the love that two people feel for each other that make them want to commit to each other for the rest of their lives.

I def. would have accepted without a ring. Im sure later on I would have felt awkward or even defensive telling friends and family when they wanted to see my ring but yeh I wouldve accepted without a ring.
I actually know 2 girls who got engaged with out a ring. The ring came with in a month for both but they discussed it with their partners and then picked theirs out.

DH and I booked our wedding and even one of our vendors before i got a ring and a proposal. So yes i obviously accepted but we also have a daughter so we knew we were going to get married so it didnt matter.

I would accept the proposal w/o a ring... i am not going to lie though, there better be a ring on my finger eventually though! (like within a month or two!)

Re: Did you hear Z100 this morning?
of course I would accept the proposal without a ring. to me the meaning of proposing and marriage is not about having a ring on my finger. of course it is nice to be able to show people the ring after you tell people you are engaged. but you never know someones situation (maybe they couldn't afford it or maybe they aren't into jewelry etc).
my sister doesn't want a diamond as her engagement ring (she wants a yellow stone) and some people think thats weird. it's not the point of the stone that is sitting on your finger and i think some people forget that.

I think the proposal is great, but to me the ring, weather it is real or CZ, temporary fill in ring or what not, is a sign of a pending marriage.

I heard this on Z100 too. I didn't like that they said she wasn't really engaged bc she doesn't have a ring. I personally would have accepted the proposal w/ or w/out the ring. Her FH said that he will get her a beautiful ring b4 the wedding. There is a date that they picked for the wedding so he proposed now so they could start planning.

Having the ring makes it real but yes I would still accept if there was no ring. The only thing would annoy me would be this from other people (friends, etc).
Also my sister started looking at wedding places before she was engaged. But she sort of had to because she lives out of state and only comes home a few times a year. Some people did this but she didnt care!
