Did you honeymoon in Puerto Rico or Aruba? If so, come on in . . . Need Advice

Hi!

We have booked our HM!! We're spending a week in Puerto Rico, and a week in Aruba. So, my questions are:

For Puerto Rico honeymooners, where did you stay? What do you think of the Marriot Stellaris Resort (we're booked there, b/c I've heard good reviews, but can change if need be)? What are some fun things to do? What clubs should we go to? Where should we adventure out to?

For Aruba honeymooners, what did you do? What clubs should we go to? Where should we adventure out to?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! TIA!!

We stayed at the Marriot Renaissance Beach Resort in a Suite that overlooked the beach. I loved it! It was in the middle of the city, SOO convenient to everything! We took the bus up to the other high rises when we wanted something different. Alot of honeymooners were there same time we were. Go to Carlos & Charlies, Iguana Joes-they are within walkin distance from the Renaissance. I would book excursions in advance of going. We did the Rhino Riders through Atlantis Tours, very awesome, there is soo much to do. Contact De Palm Tours or Atlantis-they have that island on Lockdown!

We took a southern caribbean cruise (which was not so great) that stopped in Aruba. Tho I did not stay in Aruba, I heard the Hyatt was great.

Then spent a week in PR. You will love the Wyndham El Conquistador. It's gorgeous. They offer a meal plan, which is good, because at $ 38 for a filet mignon ala carte, eating can be a pricey predicament. But the restaurants there are great. They have their own private island for water sports and beach activities. Oh, did I forget to mention a Golden Door Spa, too.

We also stayed at the Radisson in Aruba!!
We rented a jeep for 2 days and went out on our own - we went to the Natural Bridge (must see!!), Light House and shopping downtown. Getting a little lost was the most fun!! I highly recommend it! There is a natural path from the light house to the natural bridge along the water. It's very fun and scenic!! WE also ate at Madame Jeanettes (my fav), El Gaucho and you must try Marandi for a sunset dinner on the beach!! It's a new place that's amazing!

We went to the local clubs in town one night and they were fun - boy can they dance! We felt a little uncomfortable after a while though...but it was a blast!

Have fun!

Re: Did you honeymoon in Puerto Rico or Aruba? If so, come on in . . . Need Advice

We had the exact same honeymoon as you. We went to Puerto Rico first and then to Aruba. In Puerto Rico we stayed at the El Conquistador for 3 nights and then at the Wyndham El Dorado(I think) in San Juan for the rest of the time. In Aruba we stayed at the Radisson and we were not impressed at all. I did not think the hotel was anything special at all. We had many problems there including a cat getting into the room and urinating all over the place and our clothes stinking and had to all be washed. I do not think they were accodomating to us considering this happened. We were also supposed to be in an ocean view room and we got put in a room facing the air conditioning compressor and the employee parking lot. FM with any other questions.

I've stayed in the Hyatt in Aruba which was great, and I too highly recommend the Wyndam El Conquistador in PR- but not the regular rooms, stay in the villas (you get your own butler, a great restaurant that the people in the regular rooms can't go to, and a separate pool).

Re: Did you honeymoon in Puerto Rico or Aruba? If so, come on in . . . Need Advice

We went to Puerto Rico during the second half of our HM. We stayed at the El Conquistador which is in Fajardo, all the way on the other side of the island from San Juan. The place is like a small city - you don't ever have to leave the hotel! They have so many stores, and restaurants, a spa, their own private island with a beach, a casino - we loved it! We even rented a car at the hotel to go to the rain forest and to do some shopping in Old San Juan. The only drawback is there are a lot of kids there, and some of the restaurants are a little pricey.

Re: Did you honeymoon in Puerto Rico or Aruba? If so, come on in . . . Need Advice

We went to Aruba and stayed at the Hyatt. The grounds are BEAUTIFUL, but the regular rooms (not sure about the suites) were small and did NOT have a sitting balcony. I DO NOT recommend going to their nail/hair salon, it was TERRIBLE.

We ate at all of the restaurants in the Hyatt and thought the food was really good in all of them. If I go back, I would def. do the all inclusive.

We ate at Madame Genett, a small french restaurant in town (forget the name)..really good, but expensive, El Gaucho...They were all EXCELLENT.

We met people that had a free jeep rental, they invited us to tour the island with them. That was great!! I am not a tour group person and loved doing it on our own with them. We went to see the natural bridge, the ruins, and we went to the baby beach and snorkled...the island is small, so it was sooo easy to find our way around.

We mostly went to the beach and pool but we also took a day trip to the rain forest and to Old San Juan.
