a particular name because it's the same name of someone you didn't like?

Re: Did you/will you avoid naming your child....
that would not be a reason I would consider. One reason maybe not naming our child with the same name as our ex's Regardless, I am not a fan of common names. I don't plan to have children till 3 yrs down the road, but I have alreay thought of a couple of names
Boys: Syed Eli (but I dated someone with that name, and I don't think DH would like that)
Girls: Asmina and maybe maybe Ashley (That is the only common name which I love!)

You girls are too cute I guess I never dislike someone so much to the point that I can't stand hearing their name.

Re: Did you/will you avoid naming your child....
my cousin named her son the same name as an ex boyfriend and i thought that was a little odd especially since he was such a tool
DH , he has an ex who's name I wanted if I have a girl because I am naming after my grandma so it looks like the middle name is going to be that instead

There is a boy name that DH and I like but his cousin just named her son that. I want to pick a new name, but DH wants to use the same name. I think it will be too confusing, but DH is adamant about it.

OMG me too. my sisters have 7 kids between all of them and pretty much used up all the good names. and I won't have cousins named the same b/c growing up all my dad's cousins were named the same b/c of the italian tradition to name after the grandparents. there were literally 30 Bennys and Bettys

Yes totally!!! I love the name Alexis, or Alexandra but I totally dislike this girl names Alex...so I couldn't name my girl that plus my parents dog is lexi so any nickname that could come wouldn't work
that's the only name though...

I def would not name our child the same name as either one of our ex's. For someone I really dont like, I dont think I would, but there are not to many people I really dislike so the name I guess wouldnt bother me.
I did name my dog after a girl that my x cheated on me with I still love my dog I didnt do it on purpose, but all my gfs think I did
