Friday night DH and I are going out with 2 other couples. One is a British couple that lives in Northport, the other couple is American coming from Stony Brook, and we are coming from East Islip. We are trying to find a place for dinner and drinks for Friday night, nothing fancy or stuff, more like a layed back pub atmosphere but with good food and drinks somewhere in the Smithtown area (that's about mid-way between the 3 couples). Any and all suggestions would be accepted and appreciated!!!
I should edit to say that we are looking to have drinks at the resturant before and or after dinner.

Lotus East on Rt. 25A in St. James is very good if you all like Chinese Food. It's not your typical take out Chinese food. It's a nice restaurant, the foods delicious, and they make very strong drinks. The prices are reasonable too, especially since they give you big portions. Plenty to share or take home. DH and I love it there. Just a suggestion! We also like Venezia on Jericho Tpke. in Smithtown for Italian food, and Maria's on Smithtown Blvd. in Nesconset for Mexican. I've also heard good things about La Panchita (Mexican food) in Smithtown on Main Street, although I've never been there.

We went to the Nisen Sushi in Woodbury after Jen & Gregg's wedding at the CHCC. It was fun but $8 a beer for the Budweiser equivelent to Japanese beer wasn't my bowl of cherries!!!

Pace's Steakhouse-I think it is considered Happauge, but it is right next door. I go to the one in Port Jeff and the steaks are good.
I didn't realize you wanted something more casual, Pace's in more fancy-Sorry!
Cheesecake Factory by the Smithhaven mall-Yummy!

La Panchita is AH MAY ZING!!!!!! They have a small bar, and the food is so fresh, it's the best Mexican place on the island IMO!
Get the Cadillac Margaritas!!!
ETA: it's on Main Street in Smithtown, near the Town Hall.

Boulder Creek is very good, but DH and I were going to go there about a week ago, and there was a sign saying they're closed til late fall for renovations.

Butera's in Smithtown - right on Main Street... nice bar, great food (n. italian), pretty place.
H20 is in Smithtown - great bar and good seafood plus other stuff.
Oscar's in St. James - again, good bar area and the food is awesome. (unique menu)
Bella Vita in St. James - same thing as the above (italian)
La Famiglia in Smithtown - great family style Italian - has a bar area, yummy and well priced.
If you want more casual or something you know well there is always Houlihan's over in Nesconset, California Pizza Kitchen in Smithaven and The Cheesecake Factory which is also in Smithaven. Hope that helps!
