DISAPPOINTED WITH PROOFS?

was anyone disappointed when they received their proofs back. if so, which photographer and why?

I used JoVon photography. I chose them because I liked the mix of traditional and photojournalistic styles. At the last minute, my photographer could not attend my wedding - we had chosen him specifically b/c we loved his style. To compensate, they gave me two photographers - one more traditional and one 'photojournalist'.

The posed shots came out nice, but nothing amazing. The photojournalistic shots were, well, lets just say lacking. They were not creative, and there were some really dumb black and whites, like the ones of people just standing around, or my personal favorites, the black and white shots of DESSERTS!!

I wanted more candids and artistic shots and didn't get them...even had a list and sent them pics I saw on here of what I wanted....but what I do have is great. We picked 100 pics for our album

I had THE SAME situation but used B rett M atthews...original photographer cancelled...I always had 2 so they just replaced him.

Our photos are gorgeous...but there are some shots that are definitely missing

We had a photo of a sushi plate and a shrimp...were they for real...I still laugh when I think about it!

Overall I am happy with my proofs, but I definitely think there are some missing .. but I think this is normal, esp when you see some other shots from other brides, and you think 'ooh I wish I would've taken a shot like that'

I would have liked a little more photojournalism and a little more creativity, but overall I have some lovely shots and more than enough pics that i truly love.

I was unhappy, I used Duval.

The pics were shot too far , I call it ant size pics and not enough pic of dear h and me. I hope the large album/video turn out great.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

I used Duet and right now I am very unhappy with my proofs but they are working with me. THere are a lot of shots that seem to be missing - we remember specific shots we took that are missing and there are a lot of shots of me and DH (actually mostly all of them) when we are taken in profile - where are the front shots of those pics?? I really don't have many traditional shots of us - a lot of very photojournalistic shots. However, Eric is going to go back through the pics and look for the other shots - he does say that they filter the shots and don't give you all - so hopefully he will find more of the missing shots and more family shots - which there are very few of. THere are also a lot of shots that will need airbrushing - like there are whole groups of shots where my bra is sticking out!
Like I said - right now I am upset - but they seem very willing to help me and make me happy - so I will hope for the best! Please keep your fingers crossed!

We were n't thrilled either with our proofs. There were a couple of good ones but we weren't Wowed over any of them. We had the same situation where we went over a year in advance to pick the photographer whose stlyle we liked and they switched photographers on us two weeks before. We were so pi$$ed we had to drive from westhcester to LI again to meet this guy. (because we wanted to meet him) We originally used Cassarino Sudios and they filled us in with Dom from Twelfth Night. He was a nice guy but I don't feel we got what we paid for. Cassarino gave us a few extra pictures to compensate, but we are still disappointed and feel we over paid.

I used ADA and I was not thrilled with my pics. There are entirely too many posed formal shots and they were all in the same places (the lobby). I specifically asked the photographer for more candid type photojournalistic photos and got VERY few of them. I also wanted the photographer to be there while I was getting ready - he showed up just as I was finished getting ready! I e-mailed and mailed a list of pics that I wanted (especially pics with my son which we really didn't get) along with directions to where we were getting ready and the times that the makeup/hair was being done, etc. - they totally ignored all of that - he STILL asked for directions! I wish I had used someone else, but there is little I can do about that now!

I was dissappointed with my proofs, as well. Not one picture of just my parents together or my immediate family. And we looked at many photographers before we chose one and we really thought we made a good decision. A lot of people on the board here used him and loved him. What can you do I guess.

The photographer we were supposed to have, with whom I had spoken extensively regarding the style we wanted, got taken off the job at the last minute and -- lucky us !! -- we got the owner. Well we had not discussed what we wanted and it turns out he is stricktly a 'portrait' kinda guy. Also a bit stuck in the 80s if you ask me...

So we are not happy either. Lots of shots too far away, and almost all are totally posed. None look natural. We can't find one to use for than yous because there is not one good shot of us close-up (I don't want my whole bod to be in the pic - I am heavy and this was discussed with the original photographer).

Nope, not happy....

Only good think is that we went to a wedding last night in the same place and got some pics of the building and grounds that we thought were missing. Poor DH carting around the huge digital camera all night!!

Is it true, when I went to duval they said, the proofs don't look as good because there size was 4x5--tiny pics. But, when you blow them up, they would look amazing

I was incrediably disappointed with my proofs from Ray OConnor in northport. All my ceremony shots were upclose of me and my husband from the waist up. None length wise of the room showing us, my gown from the back , the bridal party. NOT ONE! It is a standard wide angel picture.
Also my photojouralism pictures that were extra $ were so plain, my friends and family took more creative shots, but of course not the quality of a professional camera
I am still not over how much I dont have one picture of myself that i like or none that I love of 'us'.
The website sold me, but they have 7 photograhers and I just took the luck of the draw and didnt get what I wanted. I should have spent 1500 more and got the guy I really wanted

In most cases, yes. There were a few shots that my photographer took that were far away, and when we had them blown up for family or for the album, he was able to make them closer. They look much better now.
He also warned us of this when we picked up the proofs that some shots would look far away, but completely different when blown up.

My proofs are all regular picture size, 3.5 x 5.

We had a combination of both--traditional and digital. I can't tell you the percentages of both that we had.

I really like my proofs a lot. The only disappointment I have had so far is that I thought there would be more black and white. I'm going to talk to our photographer about this--I need to talk to her as well about the thank you cards she sent us that we can use to put our photos in once we order them. NOT MY STYLE AT ALL! Plus I was looking over my contract and this isn't what we are suppose to have.

We had mostly traditional. The candids came from the guests. We sacrificed a little to get a photographer who only charged 1100.00 but the pics came out beautiful so I dont miss the artsy stuff that much.

My only regret is that we didnt get a shot of the whole family together. Everything else is covered.
