Do any of you girls...

Did any of you girls take the same path as one of your parents when it comes to the job that you have?

What about DH?

My dad is in business, my mom is a teacher. She became a teacher because she wanted to work with children.
I decided I did not want to hold the same job as my mom, but when I went to college all the things I found myself interested in had to do with working with children.
So even though we picked different jobs, we both had the ultimate goal to work with children.

DH chose a completely different path than what his parents do.

I did not take the same path at all. . My mother was a teacher, then went to FIT for fashion and interior design.......and ended up going bac to teach b/c she liked 'helping people' THen she started a hospital program for terminally ill children so that they should continue to learn and school.
My Dad is in business.
I took the business route and am totally dis-satisfied. I hate it. I think its disgusting and I wish I had gone into a profession where I helped people.

DH took the opposite route as his parents....he is in business, they were not and he likes it.

nope.... only independently wealthy people could afford to stay in college for 8+ years and become scientists in the good ol' days..... also, it was nearly impossible to be hired back then. (not too much better right now )

we're definitely a different track... My dad was a CPA /VP, and DH's dad was trained as an english teacher (in poland).
