I am soooo close with his mom, shes like my best friend! but i feel awakward calling her mom, I mean I would love to, but I just can't start out of no where

nope---call her by her first name. like others said--i have one mother and thats it. no one else will ever receive that title.

Same here. MIL has asked me to call her by her first name. We happended to be alone at the time, so there wasn't a similar request from FIL. I fear FIL will ask me to call him 'Dad,' which I feel uncomfortable doing.

You girls prob. wont believe this..but...I havent called my mother in law anything..not even her name. I always try to avoid calling her...surprisling enough its worked for 6mths now lol. I feel ackward calling her 'mom' even tho I know she would love it....and I feel if I call her by her first name she would feel sad that I didnt call her mom hahah...so I dont call her anything..lets see how long I can keep this up.

She's lucky I don't call her psycho white trash self centered self absorbed, you brought it all on yourself, c*nt...

we don't speak to DH's mother.. She wasn't even invited to our wedding...

OMG!

I always say ' My favorite mother in law ' or Mama C....I am so lucky...I have the greatest relationship with my Mother IN law....and with her daughter..who is also a good friend!!!! So yes I do call her mom Dh thinks its adorable. Plus she says she loves me every time I see her....she is the sweetest!!!! Tear

No, I don't and I don't know if I ever could. I'm so close with my mom and I just don't think I could call anyone else that.

I do not call her mom to her face.. I fill out our cards to 'Mom', but its hard for me to call her mom because I lost my real mom years ago (no excuse, I know) and shes not super warm and fluffy. My mom was the TOTAL opposite. I dont associate MIL with a mom figure..

I just want to shake her and say 'its okay to show love and relax!!'

It isn't rude at all. Its a personal preference!

I call MIL Mom and she loves it!! The funny thing is I call my Mom 'Nana'. My niece used to live with us and always called her Nana so now I call her that too.
