Do you & DH go out to dinner?

once a week or every two weeks but we bring in a lot

we usually go out every Friday to eat.
That is the end of the week, and I dont feel like cooking

Honestly, we don't go out to eat much (but we order in)...

We are both BIG Japanese food fans (hibachi style), so we frequent a place called Kawisaki in Long Beach and Shiro's in Carle Place...yum...I want some of that ginger dressing right now!

So far we've been out every week for dinner.
We've been staying close to home
We went to Intermezzo's which was pretty decent
(on 347 and 25)
Then there's this little italian place in the Stony Brook Lowes shopping center called Sole Mio which has really good italian not too pricey either.
We tried H20 a few weeks ago. Not bad. I had the lobster, but I still prefer City Crab and Blue Water Grill in Manhattan..I've yet to find a seafood place that measures up...$19/lb for lobster, which is awesome, $10 for stuffing which isn't.

Then on Saturday we went to this place in Bellport called Meritage. It used to be a pizza place but now it's this trendy little restaurant.
EXCELLENT.
We had 2 bottles of wine, I had some sort of funky sea bass and some awesome crabcakes.
Worked out to $150/couple (we were with one other couple) which I think is actually cheap considering the 2 bottles of wine were $30 each and we all had apps and dessert/coffee

We've been to Blue Hanu in Huntington which I think looks better than the food tastes and I LOVE these bacon wrapped shrimp at CoCos.

Susans: I live right up the road from meritage and work at the library right next to it!

one of those is where we end up!

SusanS - Have you tried the Maui Mahi Mahi at Blue Hanu? It's awesome! It's Mahi Mahi cooked in this crazy pinapple, macadamia nut sauce. I haven't had anything there but that so maybe I'm not too good of a judge on the place

Oh yeah, we love to eat out, especially because neither of us has to cook (or clean the dishes)....

Take-out usually once a week. Our favorites are Chinese and Mexican (Peppers in Jericho or First Tortilla Grill in Planview). We do pizza/heros/Italian every now and then (Saggios in East Norwich).

for fancier outings:

Steak: either Rothman's in East Norwich or Peter Lugars in Great Neck

Mexican: Viva Juan's (Huntington); Panchos (Island Park) or Poco Loco's in Roslyn

Italian: Butera's in Woodbury, Mario's (I think it's in Hauppauge); Cafe Rustica (Smithtown); Angelina's II in Syosset

Chinese: Empire Schezuan Garden in Jericho/Syosset

Others:

Burgers - Taby's in Oyster Bay

Blue Hanu, I think is hit or miss. The first time I went it was good but the second time I had the Mahi mahi you're talking about and it was totally overcooked.
Love the goat cheese and spinach pockets though.

Susans: I've never actually eaten at meritage believe it or not, but have heard it is excellent from my coworkers! I must go soon! Harbor crab is by the Patchogue marina off of south ocean. The food is decent and they have a live band sometimes (I usually just go for the alaskan king crab legs, my FAVORITE!!) but if you want to go somewhere really nice, w/ ambiance and some nice seafood dishes, go to trumpets on the bay! It's elegant and the food is awesome! Also, I hope to check out Tierra Mar(Atlantica) in westhampton one Monday night for their lobster bake on the deck!

We go out all the time. I have Zagat's Long Island and The Guide to Long Island Dining. We try to pick a new place every so often.

Our hands down favorite is Maroni in Northport. It's a teeny tiny little store front place where they have THE BEST food. The chef/owner also owns Mirepoix in Nassau county, which has unbelieveable French food.

We go out to eat quite often, once or twice a week. My favorites are Sempre Vivola in Happauge and Country House in Stony Brook.

Jenn - We havent been in a while, but do go to The MArgarita Grill in Huntington occationally.

Me and my girlfriends always do a Girls Noght Out every month and we always meet up at the St. James. It's been a tradition of ours since High School!! Do you remember that the place used to be different before they had a fire? The bar was on the opposite side of the restaurant....

no - I've only been going since I moved here about 4 yrs ago - when was the fire?!

The bar area is so small, we can only stand it when waiting for a table! The food is great though

There are a couple of local places in Long Beach that we frequent, depending on the mood. I'd say we eat out at least once a week, in a real restaurant.

We always have pizza or Subway on Wednesdays, because we take dance lessons

We always go out for breakfast over the weekend - just one day to the local diner (4 years later and they still haven't figured out that I don't drink coffee)

In the city, our favourites are
Eight Mile Creek - its near Cooper Union
Les Sans Coulottes - theatre area
Victors - theatre

Also recently went to Sofia - opposite the theatre for Movin Out. It was pretty decent

Another favourite in NYC is McCormicks 23rd / 2nd

Ahhhhh.......I miss Billy's in Long Beach - I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! I was never a fan of Duke Falcon's...I'm probably the only one!!

Oh Marni, you are the only person I know not to like Duke Falcon's!! When hubby used to live there, we went probably once a month.
