Do you ever read the 07 board and BHB and think

Do you ever read the 07 board and BHB and think

Calm the F down! Its just a freakin wedding!!!!! When we were all planning everything stressed us out and it was the end of the world if your garter wasnt the right shade of blue or the shipment of your BM gifts came 3 days later than they told you it would....but now that its all said and done, I look back and I'm like 'wow....why did I stress over that cr@p? It was one day and those things are so insignificant.' Is it just me or do you guys get so annoyed reading the other boards and seeing what the future brides are stressing and overreacting over?

nope, it's not you...... it's wedding fever, and we're all in recovery

It's so nice to not have to do any of that cr@p anymore. Such a waste of time.... although conversely, if I didn't do it, I wouldn't have had the wedding I wanted....

I'm glad I didn't get bent out of shape over too many things.... and overlooked all the little mistakes on the big day. I always pity the brides who on their big day, have fits over the bo-ks or the order of the music..... they let wedding fever actually ruin their wedding.... They're so focused on trivial BS that they yell at their friends and family, and don't enjoy the day... what a loss......

yeah i know what you mean---i hate verbalizing it, but i just don't get excited over that shiiit anymore. not like i used to. and its been said time and time again--the brides wiill understand when their days come and go. we all stressed over the silly things that didn't matter at all.....and then afterwards its like 'wow it was just one day---the greatest day of my life--but just one day'

I don't think anyone will take offense.... the vast majority of brides are well grounded, and are only doing all that detail cr@p becuase they have to... becuase weddings unfortunately don't plan themselves....
and the the very few that aren't grounded at all, well, they're in denial....

If I recall correctly, I think she's refering to a little 'war' between the brides and newlyweds from a few months ago. It was all in good fun though

yeah that's what i was talking about. some drama came out -- and by the end of it , it was like the brides were on one side of the fence and the newlyweds on the other!

I keep thinking.....'poor things' I'm soooooo glad its over with!!!!!! It's so nice to be FINALLY DONE with wedding planning and move on with my life! I'm so glad I was engaged for just 1 year; sadly I feel like that 1 year of my life was wasted stressing over 1 day!!! DOn't get me wrong, I loved my wedding, its just I finally realized now that all the stress was not quite worth it for 1 day!!

Oh well, to each her own, I guess we all needed to learn it for ourselves! It was sort of like some sick woman hazing ritual! Lets see how much this girl can take before she cracks!!!

Not really b/c when I was planning my wedding for 2 years and two months - I freaked out and worried about all of the little details and that's why it turned out so well. I might not agree with everything they're stressing about but I believe in doing things to the best of your ability and if freaking out a little gets you what you want...then go for it! It's all the little details that I freaked out over, that my guests remembered and are still commenting on, three months later. So no, I don't get annoyed at their posts at all. I might not agree with everything and therefore don't respond. If anything, I think we should be helping these girls figure out solutions to problems when things don't go their way.

agreed, I feel bad bc at some points I was freaking out (more so about money) and now all I can think is....just wait-you will NOT care when its all over and done

ETA: I did not by any means freak out or stress about little things-I just always worried about paying people and things being correct-not perfect

I barely read those boards anymore bc it bores the heck out of me. I can't relate anymore BUT I totally sympathize. The silly things I stressed over. It's almost embarassing for me. A friend of mine is getting married in early November and is going nuts. I feel for her

It's definitely true, when I post on there I find myself saying don't worry, it will all work out in the end...a lot. It's funny to think back to when I felt like that, and how fast it all went.

I don't think that really....because we were all there only a few months ago. But..it is funny how quickly I am over certain things. Like last year I was OBSESSED with cake toppers. Now...I could care less.

Re: Do you ever read the 07 board and BHB and think

(Sorry this is long) I think the reason some people get annoyed is becuase you've been there already and it's kind of old news to you. The same can be looked at when you Have a baby, Buy a House or anything that requires planning and $$$. When I had my first child, I was on every Mommy, Preggo wesbite asking questions, worrying about this and that. By the time I had my second I stll went and chatted but more so to discuss things less tramatic or stressful, not because I didnt care but I did it all with the 1st.

The same could be said about wedding planning. For many on here married and done with planning, now settling into the newlywed stage, reading those posts are tedious or funny to some.. But the same can be said for some living together for the 1st time with their DH's it's new. There might be those who have lived with DH before getting married and find it odd some of the posts that come up from those that never lived with DH before.

Everything has it novelty or new feeling. Some may find the posts annoying or just unimaginable to think why that person is stressing (fonts, napkin colors, BM trouble, etc), but you gotta remember you were once in that boat and felt a way and would be very hurt or pissed if someone tried to minimize how you felt. For those brides it is their 1st, little things do bother them, because they want their day perfect just like you did and havent gotten to the point of relaxing and letting things go because the final result is the wedding, a day we've already had. So shouldnt we as married ladies who have been there and done that try to help ease their worries with words of comfort? JMO-

Re: Do you ever read the 07 board and BHB and think

Honestly I was kinda like that BEFORE the wedding too.. I was already so stressed about the big things, that I tried to NOT stress about the little things that alot of brides do stress about... Of course, I had my days where I asked my MOH what size line I should have under our names on our program but for the most part, I REALLLLY tried to calm the girls down on there about the little sh!t!!!

I completely agree and to be honest I was never as stressed as these ladies seem.

Before I was married I would read the '07 board and think some of these girls need to calm down.

Today i received the LIW newsletter in it was a write up about pre-wedding planning stress relief meetings this seriously made me laugh. Did anyone see this? I got stressed out a bit when my dress was not in 2 weeks before the wedding but not so much that I needed to go to a meeting with a therapist to discuss it. Plus if you're so stressed out how do you have time for this meeting?
