I made the mistake of never looking in the mirror after I got dressed. We were walking into the reception when I saw myself in a mirror and I said out loud 'Holy crap! I'm the bride!!!!' That was 5 hours after getting dressed, and after the ceremony. I felt like I was at someone else's wedding.

TOTALLY. It was an outer body experience - so surreal. Almost too much so for me, b/c a lot of the reception is a complete blurr.
Yesterday at work, I got introduced as Kristina O'_____, I practically giggled out loud over it. I need to wake up and realize we actually did it!

I feel the same way, I truly don't remember much of the reception, songs, dancing, etc. my brain was on high speed!

Yep! I had this surreal feeling all day & could not believe it was truly my time to be a bride!!!! I remember looking in the mirror as my MOH put my necklace on & saying to myself 'OMG, you are a bride & it is your time!'
I just watched my wedding video the other night with my SIL & had the same feeling again! I still can't believe it is over with & I am now a wife!!!

That's exactly how I felt - numb. I am so happy I hired a videographer b/c I could not imagine not being able to see the wedding and reception again! I want to see the fruits of my labor!

Surreal is how I would describe it too! I had absolutely no anxiety or nerves....and midway through the cocktail hour I realized, 'Wow - this is a really nice wedding - and it's mine!'
It's been almost 3 months - and I'm still not a natural with my new name....especially at work where I still squeak out my old name by accident on occasion!

Absolutely! Thats probably why I can't remember a lot of things. I remember at one point being on the dance floor with DH and saying 'Is this really happening?'

Not at all..I had some sound advice from other brides to take it easy and just leave the reception every so often to be alone and take it all in. It helped a lot.

OMG....YES!!! After the ceremony when we were in the limo on our way to the reception, DH and I looked at eachother and we were like ' I can't believe that we are going to 'our' wedding reception' It was so weird. It just felt like 'yeah, I am just a guest at a wedding...no biggie' Lol Such a weird feeling. We still can't believe it and its been almost 2 1/2 months!!

I kept thinking the same thing...I kept thinking, 'Is this really happening?'
(Probably because I'd had so many WR dreams in the weeks leading up to it that I was just expecting to wake up).
I still sort of feel like it never really happened because it's like we're just back to our normal lives now (we've lived together for over 2 years already, so it's totally the same).

Re: Do you feel like the whole wedding was an out of body experience for you?
I completely agree. Obviously we all worked VERY hard to coordinate everything for our wedding day. It was amazing to see all the thousands of puzzle pieces pull together so magically in one day. I had serious tunnel vision during the church ceremony. I felt that it was only DH and myself in the church and no one else. (even though there were 100+ people there) It was a definite out of body type of feeling.
One of the best pieces of advice I got from this site was to just sit back duriing the reception(or go to the bridal suite with DH) and say to yourself 'All of these people are here to celebrate us'
