I used to, every one, with my family. I wasn't super religious .. but I did teach religion and volunteer as an adult leader at a youth group program .. I was involved in the church theatre program for years .. so I was involved with the church, and so was my mom. But when I moved out, I started going to church less (I still was active in the youth group though) and now I don't really go at all. I never liked Mass, never thought it was something I 'had' to do to be close to God (I can pray anywhere, and do), but I kinda feel like I should go back soon .. every once in a while or something ...
It occurred to me today that I never THOUGHT of going to Mass today or tomorrow (DH is not religious and it's just not part of our holiday routine like it was when I was younger) - and that kind of disturbed me .. I will definitely take my kids when I have them ..
What about you ladies??

Hey Jenn!! Merry Christmas!
My brother and I went to church every Christmas Eve with my parents when we were growing up! We would go to the 4pm family mass I think it was called, where it had the childrens' choir and all. I mentioned in another post that this is the first Christmas Eve in years that I won't be able to join them since my stupid job won't close early! I can probably leave without being penalized but I don't really feel right doing that, either. DH has to work tonight, and he isn't a church-goer, so I am not sure how our Christmas Eve traditions will play out when we have kids and all. I did love going when I was a kid though... sad to admit this, but Christmas Eve mass was the only one I LOVED going to What can I say? Church isn't fun for kids usually, I don't think!

same here- I used to go with my parents and when I lived with my grandparents, but I dont consider myself religious, more spiritual I think and church just seemed to be a chore. terrible attitude I know- we have many blessings and I feel guilty for feeling that way, but still cant make myself go more often- although I do pray.
i still go on all the major holidays- christmas, easter, and usually new years day.
eta- Dh and my sister and I are going tonight to the 7pm mass

I LOVED Christmas Eve mass. My church always had someone to sing 'Ave Maria' and I just loved it. SO beautiful with all the plants, etc. Usually I hated mass too ... I guess that's why I gave it up.

I used to go to Christmas day mass with the family, but then my mom took over dinner on christmas day, so we would go to 6:00 mass on christmas Eve.... i think this may be the first christmas ever that i might not make it to mass b/c DH and I have things to do and i feel HORRIBLE!!

I go every year. The only year I missed was when I was working in retail (on break from school).
We were trying to figure out when to go this year. If we can make the 5:00 mass we will go tonight if not we will go tomorrow morning (looking more like this will be our option).
We do not go regularly though we both did as kids and our parents both go weekly. It is something we both want to start doing.
When we have children we will go regularly. It is something I feel is important.
I had to go every week up until I made my confirmation -- I remember all the local kids would go to 4:30 mass on Sundays (always pushed it to the last minute) and we would all stand in the back. One day the priest got angry because we were all whispering. One man stood up and just said -- 'be happy they are here. Even if they are talking they are picking up some of what you are saying and that is better then them not coming at all.' I always remembered that and it was true -- we were annoying but there are lessons and teachings that we all took with us.

Yes we go today on x-mas eve to mass, but his church does mass early not the midnight mass. The church changed the policy and when i asked DH why he said bc alot of ppl used to come to church drunk lol.
His mom and moms best friend are both in the choir so the whole family goes. Last night dh said that this year we wont go, but i know we will. He will call his mom and say if its ok if we dont go, she'll say its fine but by the tone in her voice he'll feel bad and say nevermind he'll go lol.

I use to do midnight mass tonight when I was a kid up to 14 years old. DH and I don't go to church but sometimes I will go to midnight mass still since some family friends sing in the choir and its a pretty cool celebration. I have issues with organized religion as does DH but I have to support my friends.

its his guilt lol, she will seriously say its ok joe we'll see you after. But no matter how she says it, he says UGH i know youre mad nevermind ill go. She'll even tell him that he is crazy she said it was fine but he will say 'no i know youre mad so ill come' dh does this with me too, i say its fine and he will just assume im upset about it, but he is the one who feels guilty and that takes over him lol.

We're going to Church tonight. THE LORD called my name, as a child, perhaps like Samuel in the OLD TESTAMENT, and I responded. Church to me is worshiping THE LORD, because HE is WORTHY of my praise and I receive strength and encouragement from fellow believers. And I receive spiritual nourishment, which is as important as eating every day. Going to Church, for me is an extension of my LOVE for THE LORD, and the relationship I have with HIM. Mary MOB

I am sure everyone is tired of hearing this BUT I grew up in a super religious household and then when I got older stopped practicing. A few years ago I started going to mass again and it changed my life and really brought me peace and happiness. I go to mass every Sunday ( well actually I usually go on Saturday but still LOL )
I used to go to the 8AM Christmas mass with my parents but this year I am going to the mass today at 5PM at my brother's parish so I can be with my godson. DH is non practicing and he felt like a hypocrite going but I told him that he shouldnt, God wants us to make sacrifices for our spouses and this would be a sacrifice for him and it would make me VERY happy!

this is kinda funny.....we are jewish, but my mom, when she was growing up would go to midnight mass with friends...it was kind of the one day jews would go to church and see how the other half lives.

I went to church every week when I lived at home. Now DH and I go once or twice a month. We always go on holidays. We went to 9 o'clock services on Christmas Eve. DH's mom and step-dad go to church, but his dad and siblings don't go.
