I feel like we are so behind in what we should have. I am thinking about getting a financial planner to tell us how much we should be saving and where we should be putting it. Has anyone else done this????

you could probably get a lot of the same info from a book
DH and I each took a personal finance class in college, and we've read a few books but no financial advisor

Yes, DH and I have a finanical planner. We started working with one in the beginning ot the year. It helped us so far. They took all our statements and looked at our bills and helped us with a retirement fund suited for us. They also told us where we should stop putting our money and where we should be putting it. The guys we worked with didn't charge us either. You only put money if you invest in what they suggest and we never pay they directly.
