Do you like these dishes?

Do you like these dishes?

I have the worst luck with dishes....got my whole everyday set at my shower and 2 weeks later hated them!! I returned them all and went on a quest for new ones....finally I found the perfect set. Got them all.......fast forward to present day.........we just bought a co-op and the kitchen is brand new and blue, which clashes with the dishes :( So back to the store they are a going...............Now my quest has begun AGAIN! I just can't seem to find a thing I love. ..... Finally found these and like them a lot, but am not sure if they are to blaa. I can jazz them up with colored glassware and placemats..just looking to see what you all thought! Help I really am going crazy over this???

I think they are really cute...but very casual. And while I love the way they look now, I think I would get tired of looking at them everyday.

Maybe you could buy some of those and mix it with some plain white and some plain black dishes?

I love those! From Fishes Eddy right? I have the milk and creamer set and people always compliment on how cool they are!!

I am not too crazy about them, but I like either really colorful/gaudy looking things or really formal china with thin designs around the rim.

I think I would get tired of these pretty quickly too - why not just do a solid color if you can't find a pattern you like.

At first site my thoughts were ohh..very cool. But then I think after a while they would get old. I think something a little more neutral would be better. But they are definately cool! I like the idea of just getting a couple of peices to go with a more sutble set of black and white dishes

Ya...I am liking the couple of pieces idea and mixing it with plain black..hmm... The hubby likes this set, it is a mix and match one...he LOVES the blue.

As someone who had blue plates for a long time...i dont know what it is but its a pain to match stuff with. Dont ask me why.

I do not match my dishes to my kitchen really. I LOVE dishes and have a few different sets. If you are looking for casual dishes these are cute- but I would be done looking at them after a year or so. If you are looking for formal set then I would not get these at all. Now, you can also get the accessories for this set and a neutral white more formal set. BUT you have to like them, not us.

I like the set all the way to the right on the blue picture...

Re: Do you like these dishes?

This would be our everyday set. The china will sit in the hutch collecting dust...so I don't want anything to fancy or expensive. I also wanted to stay away from all one color set because my china is all one color and I wanted something a little different for everday.....Do you see!! I am crazy with this?? Jeez you would think this is life or death..it's just dishes Maybe I am obsessing bc the wedding is over and I have nothing left to obsess about!

I think they are cute. Maybe using those as a dinner plate with black or white salad plates, bowls etc. would prevent you from getting tired of them too quickly?

I would love to change our everyday dishes - we have this crazy multi pattern set that I love, but I am ready for something else now. Of course we have a bazillion place settings and all the completer sets that come with so I am stuck with them for a while longer.

Calie - the black and white ones are a tad trendy. You don't want dishes that are going to be tired and look so 10 years ago 10 years from now. My mom had blue and white paisley pots for years and years and everytime I saw them they screamed '1973!!!!' at me. You don't want the same thing.

Remember how in the late 80's brightly colored geometric patterns were the rage and now they look so....late 80's? Same idea....

Re: Do you like these dishes?

But...how long do you keep everyday dishes??? The set we have now I would say is about 3 years old and they are getting the boot. Would you really keep everyday dishes for 10 years??!!!?? I get bored and like to re-do everything, with different colors and style..so I can't see keeping dishes for more than a couple of years (except china).

Cali, but if you want to change your everyday dishes so frequently, then perhaps getting a cheaper everyday set is a way to go.

A while back, when moving out of my parents house, I purchased a set of the geometric pattern dishes at value city for like $30, for a set of 4, with cups as well. And I am still using it now, b/c I still like it. B/c if you're buying expensive dishes, you want them to be classic and last.

My mom also tends to buy out sets in pieces for TJMaxx, from their open collection.

I am personally a big fan of fiestaware- you can get them in all one color- or a bunch of different colors... I have mine in like 8 different colors.. it makes it match everything.

Cute I could see using them for a coffee/cake set but I would get tired of them for everyday.
