Do you truly like/enjoy your job?

Do you truly like/enjoy your job?

I've been here for 4 years now which at first it was enjoyable. However, as the time passed people changed, the firm changed but the duties haven't but increased or stayed the same. It's become a tiresome routine like a treadmill that I stay for money and health insurance. At times there is some enjoyment but others just pure frustration and irrating.

Just wondering... Do you truly like/enjoy your job?

Re: Do you truly like/enjoy your job?

i used to love my profession...until I went for more money...then I started to hate the job and the profession...it was the worst place I had ever worked for...if DH hadn't been laid off I would have quit earlier...but alas...I am done...and searching for a new, exciting, likeable job

Ilove my job, but I'd love not working and doing charity work for animal shelters even more.

I'm glad there are so many happy people out there. It gives me hope that one day I'll find a job I can love. I'm on job/career #3 since college, and still haven't gotten it right. The search continues...

Hmmm ... me and my job. Well, I can say that I love the industry that I am in but I'm not crazy about the actual work that I do. If that makes sense. I'm actually in school to try to get to where I want to be in the next year or so.
But we just went through a downsizing in my area and right now, I'm just glad it's not me.

I think there are pros and cons to every job. Try to think about what you like about your job and focus you time and energy there. Also, I think a person needs to look within to determine what they really want to do. I'm a big proponent of the Myers Briggs personality test. Sometimes, we are fortunate to go for what we want. Other times, we need to work just to pay the bills.

I do not love my job. I love the $$ it gives me to enjoy the rest of my life.

Its not that my job is bad. I have a good position in a respected industry but I would like to work in a field that flexs my creative muscles and this job doesnt do that AT ALL!

I do not love my job. I don't think I even like my job. If I could go back, I would have never went to law school - it has done nothing for me but created a huge a$$ debt. So now I can't afford to take any job paying less than this one. I'm truly stuck.

I really enjoy my job and like the people I work with. The money is great as well, however, it is a very stressful job for me. I will not be going back to work though full time after we have children. I am hoping to work from home on a few jobs because I think I will miss it, that's how much I like it

Jeesh- I've had so many jobs.... I've been a recruiter for graphic designers, I've sold marketing sponsorships, I've even worked for a start up dot.com music company! Those really didn't 'do' anything for me- although I made a crap load of money! Now, I make no money- but I do enjoy what I do (I work in marketing promotions) even if it is for no cash-o-la! But that's OK- I am currently working towards my MBA in Marketing- so hopefully with my MBA and my marketing promotions experience I should be able to land a marketing promotion manager at a major company like Pepsi or something like that!

Huh...depends on the day?
I like the company I work for since its small..but that is one of the biggest problems- it is understaffed.

I work for a boss whose strength is event marketing- so why does she own a small ad agency? she winds up putting our dept through many wringers...she does not know what our jobs entail at ALL...barely has computer skills- has her asst PRINT out her emails for her....but she is dynamic and great to have meetings with! (altho she would love for us to say thank YOU for employing us!)

I love working with the group of people here...some days it is the only thing that gets me thru.
I hate policital environments...worked at 2 places like that,,,and there is NO place for a straight shooter like me.

Like the industry- hate what the ecomony has been doing to us BEFORE 9/11.

For the most part I like my job. My boss is wonderful and I work with great people. Like everywhere else, there are a lot of things that are frustrating that cannot be changed. You just have to learn to live with it. It's not a bad job, but if I didn't need the paycheck, I would be happy to not come back.

I consider myelf very lucky - I absolutely love my job. I have no problem waking up, driving 40 minutes and working all day. I don't make a lot of money, but that's ok by me...I'd rather make less and love it more!! I also knew how much I would be making when I chose this career so I shouldn't complain about it!!

There is no better feeling in the world than seeing kids in the hallway screaming my name as if I'm someone famous - I will always treasure that!

Not currently working (been out on disability now for almost 5 months) but I also have been on the career merry-go-round for the last 3 years. I left a job and career that I truly enjoyed due to parental responsibilities and then was unable to return after 10 months off. I decided to go in a different direction and have worked for 5 different employers in the last 3 years. The last one, where I had only worked for a month before becoming ill, looked like it might be the right one. But now there is a good chance that I will not have that to go back to either (they are laying off 300 people companywide within the next 6 weeks). Soooo I am looking for something..anything else. Trying to find something to do at home, but there isn't that much. . I miss the money from working, but I am really beginning to enjoy being home.

I don't love my job, but I love the fact that it allows us to afford our own home, a nice annual vacation, and other comforts many don't have. I'm looking forward to going back to school for teaching, probably in January.

It has its ups and downs but for the most part I like it. I have great hours and Ive worked my way up from receptionist to administrative assistant. so I think Im going to hang around for a bit.

This is NOT my dream job or a job that I feel helps the World be a better place but it gives DH, I and soon-to-be baby a nice home and a bit of security. Am I challenged- NO. I hate the commute. But I have a great boss who is very flexiable and trusts that I know how to do my job without being micro-managed. I get pretty good benefits and leave work at 5pm everyday and have almost NO travel. After traveling 2-3 weeks per month in my last 2 jobs this is a great break from that.
I am considering trying to figure out something new after my maternity leave but I am not sure if we can afford for me to take a huge cut.

Re: Do you truly like/enjoy your job?

Lately, no. I have worked in b-to-b publishing, specifically in a marketing capacity for almost 9 yrs. I dont have a bad job, the pay is decent, but I am becoming disillusioned with the industry, the commute, and after massive layoffs here, it is more apparent now that I need to find a new career. Just not sure in which direction I should head....I was VERY busy @ work during my wedding plans (which was stressful), and shortly after my wedding a reorg took place here, now I have less and less satisfying projects.
