Does anyone.......

know anything abot venture capitalism? I have someone that is seriously interested in investing money into my company to help it grow and I don't even know where to begin researching the pro-s and cons of this. They are actually offereing to pay me a salary as well as put money into the company for a % of the profit in exchange. It would help my company to grow teremndously in a short period of time. I'm so confused......

My DH is a VC and what VC's do is they invest into private/small/large/international companies (basically any eye catching or prospective money making company) to make it more profitable and then sell these products/companies to get a return percentage on their investments. It's very big in California and silicon valley, not so much on the east coast. FM me for more info.

Re: Does anyone.......

I used to work for a VC backed company and because I was in finance at the time, I knew way more than I wanted to as an employee. The VC company, at least in the case of my old company, basically controls the company. I won't work for a VC backed company ever again. I want to work for people who have control of the company. The VC company they had actually made the CEO president and one of the board members the CEO, which I thought was so wrong. And then they tried selling the company. It wasn't a great experience. But yes, it's a great way for you to grow, if you're okay with giving up some of the control and having to present to them constantly. Like I said, this is just the experience I had with my old company. It could be different elsewhere.

Thank you all for the advice so far. I'm a small company and the investor is actually a close aquaintance who is a 'risk taker' and has money to play with and is interested in what I can do with my company. The investor has no desire to control the company, they just want to financially assist me and help with advertising, materials etc and try to help me grow and make some money in return I wold only be signing with them for about 1 year.....
