Does anyone else grind their teeth at night?

I was never really aware that I did this but my dentist said, judging by my xrays, I'm definitely grinding down on them. My husband says he hears it sometimes. More recently, I've been a bit more aware of it and sometimes I wake up doing it lol Now my jaw is starting to ache a bit. Besides wearing a mouthpiece, I'm wondering if it's possible to stop doing this on my own?!? Am I the only one who does it??

I do to and I have a mouth guard. Only way to stop, sorry.

Dh does this and I wish he would do something about it. When he mentioned it to our dentist, he said he didn't see any damage to his teeth so he didn't see a need for a guard (although I don't know how much DH pushed the subject).

I clench and grind and it's becoming worse and worse. My dentist recognized it from looking at my gums and my teeth on the last visit.

He suggested I buy a store-bought mouth guard for now and we'll reevaluate in 6 months. The first one I bought was too weak, though, and I actually BIT THROUGH IT!!! I bought a pricier one and so far it's good, but because of the weather my throat has been hurting every morning since now my mouth is forced to stay open at night while I sleep. So I stopped wearing it for a few days and my headaches are back. As soon as my throat stops hurting, I'm going to wear it again. I wish there were another way, but there just isn't.

i would say a mouth guard is your best bet...

my DH has been recently doing this, he needs 2 go to a dentist first of all, then get himself a mouth guard!

I do and many times it is stress related. I have a mouth guard and my oral surgeon gave me muscle relaxers.

I do sometimes, but I never remember to use my mouth guard.

I used to do it a ton! I bought a mouth guard from CVS and molded it to my mouth...worked great and didnt cost me a lot like the ones from the dentist! I used it for a long time and I don't need it anymore!
