When a family member finds your acct someplace (here, facebook, myspace, wherever) and then you feel like you have to censor yourself? (and take down your bpics b/c you didn't tell your parents you took them and you don't want your mom to find out 2nd hand through your cousin who doesn't even like you anyway so why would she look me up on facebook BLAH)??

oh yes, yes, yes, yes! I absolutely HATE facebook for this exact reason. It gives you absolutely NO privacy whatsoever. Every time you add a new photo or change your status or just comment on somebodys wall - it tells every single person the moment they log on. It's like a training place for Stalkers. 'Here's how to get into people's lives without them even realizing'. I hate it. MySpace is like that also, but at least a little more private. Like it doesn't TELL EVERY PERSON IN THE WORLD every time you make a change to it. At least not as far as I've seen.
So yeah.. having random family members seek you out can be really irritating. You feel like you've gotta suddenly be sooo discreet with hiding your whole life now.

OMG. so, i begged my sister to come on FB. Her first official action on the site was to accidentally send out an email to her entire address book inviting them on FB. EVERYONE, her ILs, our cousins, aunts, uncles, coworkers etc. and EVERYONE signed up.
Now, I never post anything private but its embarassing when your grown cousins are on your page and your friends are posting stupid immature stuff which would normally make me laugh but now it makes me cringe.
She ruined FB for me foreeevvvveeerrrr.

Ughh my whole family requested me on FB. I always have wreckless status updates and now I have to put the cookie clean ones. And then the problem is what are we going to do? Deny their friends request?

i know exactly how you feel, but I discovered you can edit your privacy settings so you can edit what you allow to be published on FB and who can view them, so if you want to post your b-pics for example you can allow or not allow certain people to view the album.

exactly. I blocked my cousin from all my facebook pics and status updates, and one of my sister's friends who comments on EVERYTHING. it's the best thing ever to block them and they don't even know!

You can block your cousin from the carrot album if u want to. I block all except some people from viewing certain albums. No-one needs to know my whole life haha (b/c it's so exciting ya know)

i am pretty open person so i don't mind when i post things on FB or Myspace but sometimes I wish to have had two different account one for my coworker and not so close friends and one for my close friends.
You can select who you want to see your pics - i did that with B pics only selected a few people who can see them. As far as when you write on someone's wall and it posts it that does suck so i try to be very good with that.

yes! I definately hate that! My mom's best friend's daughter, who I grew up with requested me, so I was like ok. BUT THEN, apparently her mom is on there too, so she requested me and I really want to ignore it- I do not want to be friends with my mom's friend on facebook. What is she doing on there anyway- she's like 60
