Does anyone else have those little regrets???

Does anyone else have those little regrets???

I was just wondering if anyone else thinks back and regrets anything? I can't complain at all about our wedding - all and all it was perfect. But now looking back there are always the little things that you might of done differently. I'm not complaining it's just that the day after the wedding I was like it was really perfect and now looking back I would of changed the following...
- I didn't go arond to the tables (not on purpose I just felt pulled and I guess I needed someone to say ok go now! so I wish I would of assigned that to someone.
- church programs- I wish I would of done them
- picture of invite and flowers
- a list of a few must have pictures
- a weekend wedding! it went by way too fast
- spent more time with hubby - we didn't realize it until I see the video we weren't together a lot.
- we went to a bar/rest. after the wedding b/c it was a day wedding - I wish I would of changed (the bottom of my dress is really ruined) plus it just would of been nice.
-when my father kissed me at the alter I wish I would of hugged him
- I had so many people at the church (I wish I would of looked at people while I was coming down the aisle - I just looked straight ahead - so I didn't notice all the smiling faces
Well I guess that's about it. Seems like a lot doesn't it -

I have a few too, but just keep reminding myself that if that they are little things and despite them, it really was a perfect day.

- wish we'd gotten a video afterall. We really didn't want to spend all that money for something we thought we'd only watch a few times, but it went so fast we wish we could see what really happened and the priest was so magnificent we wish we had captured it.

- wish that I had put more thought into specifying some different settings/backgrounds for some of the photographs - we missed some nice places like the lobby of the hotel, and the church grounds. Missing a few key shots that I wish I had too.

- wish we'd sat with the bridal party at a large table, instead of a dais set-up, because the way the hall set it up was funny, and they were not really next to us, but way off to the side where we couldn't talk.

- wish we'd had an extra half hour between the ceremony and the reception

- wish I'd spent a bit more time circulating with hubby. I felt like I didn't see him at all during the reception, but there sure are a lot of candid shots of us together so I guess I did! :-)

I think the only little things I regret are missing a few key family portraits and not forcing hubby's family to take pics before the reception like I originally wanted to. The only other little regret I had was I wished someone had a camera in the bridal party to pictures while we were at Old Westbury Gardens because the bridal party was having so much fun it would have been great to have some pics. But that's it! Greatest day of my life!

regrets???

biggest regret was something I had no control
over...out of about 70 family members (on my
side)only 5 came.
I am still working my way through one particular
set of relatives to figure out why they truly
could not come.
My uncle was very very sick..so I knew he & his
wife may not be able to come. But his daughter, her husband,
and their 2 girls didnt come either (have to take of dad, didnt want
to drive that day, etc) even though I asked her if I
could have her little one in our bridal party.
didnt come to the shower either.
Yet, they are first cousins.
And robs family came- from PA,Rochester NY, Texas,
and Florida!
yikes- still after all this time.

Phyl - you`re not alone with the no-shows...

Hubby had a similar experience with one branch of his family.

When we gave them the 'save the date' letters 10 months in advance, they were asking which was the better hotel, or telling us they`d already made arrangements to stay with a relative in the area (they live in the Albany area). One told us she and her husband were going to splurge on the hotel as their anniversary gift to themselves, and make the weekend a mini-vacation.

We, in part, choose a Saturday daytime wedding so they would be able to make the overnight arrangements easier - they could do the trip in one day if desired. We also changed to a larger room when we had so many giving us what we thought was an enthusiastic response to be there - it would have been about a dozen people.

Well imagine our surprise when we started getting one decline after another. Some had no note whatsoever, just checking off NO. Other excuses ranged from `can`t get off work` to `we`re really busy` What really hurt is that for the past several years we`ve made the trek to Albany for every graduation, sweet 16 and even taking of time from work for a funeral. Only one sent a yes, but later rescinded it. The daughter of one cousin did contact us and ask if she could come (we had left the 'children' out due to space constraints) and she ended up driving down for the day with her dad - they were the only ones to show.

Hubby was so hurt by it all - he keeps saying it`s the last they`ll see of him in Albany and that it just shows him what he really means to them. I felt so bad for him, especially when I had family that had come from as far away as Alaska.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that you`re not alone when it comes to getting the cold shoulder from relatives - it`s such a shame that someone would want to miss out on sharing your special day.

karen and no-shows...

I know *exactly* how your hubby feels...it is
very disheartening.
I, too, feel that I *NOW* know where I
stand with those relatives. I have become
painfully aware of it over the last yr too.
Every time I issue an invitation to 'come to the new
house'- whether it was a mailed invite or over
the phone- there is always something else.
Last time I actually spoke to my cousin, a few months
ago, I joked with her that I would soon
be saying 'come visit the old dump' or 'come to
my kids college graduation'.

I even made a further point NOT to call anywhere near
our wedding anniv...just to see what would happen.
NOTHING DID- no calls no cards.

So, Rob feels that I should call them and let
them know that- although they may not be aware of
this - their silence is hurting me, etc.
Will see as I will have to screw up my courage to
talk resonably, and screw down my temper to
get my thoughts across without going bonkers.

There are other factors here at play, that stop
me from completly crossing them off my list...
and until I have that kind of discussion- face to
face- I have to stew.
So, again, I def empathize with your honey..but
I'd like to warn him that when & if he decides to walk out of
their lives...not to be surprised if he doesnt get
ANY type of reaction at all...and to be prepared
to deal with that as well.
