Does anyone else wish they had done anything different?

I don't know if it's just me or what, but I keep thinking about my wedding and wishing I had done a few things differently. Now don't get me wrong, my wedding day was next to perfect as a whole, but there are a couple of things eating at my mind. There are actually three things that stick out, unfortunately two out of the three are about me personally. First, I feel like I didn't have enough makeup. I had two 'professional' trials and wasn't impressed with either, so I just asked my friend, who's the cosmetic manager at Bergdorf to do my makeup. We did a bunch of trials and tried different looks. In the end I decided I wanted something very natural because I felt too made up. Now looking at my pictures I feel like my face looked dull, definitely not enough 'umph.' The second thing is my hair. My trial was awesome and my hair did look great, but the day of it wasn't exactly what I wanted. I wanted more height to my hair so it was noticealy higher than my tiara. It also looked less soft than I had wanted. Another thing was since we had taken pictures outside before the ceremony, my hair was kind of slipping out of the french twist by the time I walked into the reception. Thank goodness I wore my veil all night so it wasn't that noticeable, but I see it in the pictures. The last thing is my flowers. Laurie gave me exactly what I asked for, but I wish I had given more money to my flowers because I felt like the CP got kind of lost in the big ballroom.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels like this.

Re: Does anyone else wish they had done anything different?

You're not the only one...

I wish I did my hair differently.

I wish we had a second photographer to take candid pictures...I love our posed shots but I would like to have had both.

I wish I didn't use the crappy programs my mother's company made for us...they promised to make something beautiful and they ended up looking like a chinease take out menu.

I wish I knew how fast the time flies and that I spent every second of it with DH. Some how a trip to the ladies room took 30 minutes with everyone stopping me and that was time spent without dh at our wedding.

Re: Does anyone else wish they had done anything different?

I think the majority of brides will have things they would have changed. It's hard because it's not like you get a trial run of your wedding day.

1. I would have gotten my hair done first like they suggested so that we would have been on schedule.

2. Would have picked a different song for my vocalist to sing.

3. Would have inquired about an extra photographer just to capture DH getting ready. This got all messed up due to me running late so his getting ready stuff is all posed instead of candid.

4. Would have paid almost any amount of money to have an extra hours on my reception.

Re: Does anyone else wish they had done anything different?

I know how you feel... especially about the makeup. I mean, I loved my makeup, I just wish someone would have told me when I needed more lipstick! Such a simple thing, you would think.

-I wish I would have trusted my instincts about SandCastle's cake and gone with an outside baker

-I wish I would have thrown the bouquet a little further back (I was not happy with who caught it )

- I REALLY wish I would have eaten at my CH

Re: Does anyone else wish they had done anything different?

I was obsessing about things right after the wedding. But as the weeks passed, I can't even remember what they were. The only things I wish I did was have the videographers interview my grandmother and his grandfather for the video. I also forgot to take a picture of my grandmother and me together. She hasn't let me forget it either!

Re: Does anyone else wish they had done anything different?

My great grandmother came late becuase of traffic and therefore she missed pictures before. Since I was so busy throughout the night I forgot to take a picture with her I do have a pic of her doing the reading though.

I wish I could have had Gizmo attend the ceremony and walk down the aisle with the bridal party.

Everything else was perfect

Re: Does anyone else wish they had done anything different?

Oh so glad I am not alone......

The photographer would have been someone else or another one to shoot candids. I feel like all I have are posed shots. Also, he placed us in bright sunlight and blue eyed me was blinded so I am squinting in every photo. I try to think of it as a reminder of what a beautiful day we had.

Time, I didn't plan for the right amount of time in between the ceremony and the reception. It was too tight. The day went so fast but it was so wonderful.

And just like you Julz I wish my girl could have been there (my dog, Bridget.) I didn't even get to see her that day and she is the second love of my life.

Re: Does anyone else wish they had done anything different?

1) I wish I'd gotten a videographer. I regret it terribly now. I could have found the $$$... somewhere.

2) I should have gone to a better seamstress for my alterations. I still think my dress was too loose on top.

3) I wish I had taken the time to 'STOP' at the reception. It blew by -- and I hardly remember anything. I can not WAIT for the proofs so I can see what happened!

Re: Does anyone else wish they had done anything different?

Would have had the photographer's take photos of DH, his family and the GM before coming to me.

Would have paid anything to add more time to the CH and reception - didn't think of it beforehand.

I think I would have used a different florist. The flowers I got were not very unique and didn't like the guy I was working with.

Re: Does anyone else wish they had done anything different?

I wish I wasn't so calm on my wedding day. Everyone has said I was the calmest bride they have ever seen and I wish I had been a little more emotional.

I have to say that is my biggest regret about my wedding was that I didn't feel nervous and sort of felt that I went through the motions of the wedding. I wish I had been a little jittery. I felt SO relaxed, like it was no big deal.

Why didn't I feel like it was a big deal?

Re: Does anyone else wish they had done anything different?

I don't have many regrets, but here are a few things off the top of my head:

- I wish I would have been more aware of the camera and not made so many stupid faces in my pics! (but that is SO me, I am very animated ) While most of my pics came very nice, there are so many spontaneous pics ruined b/c I made diff. silly looking faces without even realizing it

- I would have gotten a different cake, both in style and the cake itself/ filling. I hated the way my cake looked , and esp. how it tasted (bleeech) But I didn't want to spend any extra on it to upgrade, so its my own fault. if it wasn't for my florist decorating the cake so beautifully, it would have totally been a bust

- I would have done my hair slightly different. I loved my hairstylist , she did exactly what I wanted. But I would have pulled my bangs more over to the side or pulled it back entirely. My bangs look SO messy in some pics and it takes away from the beauty of the rest of my updo

- I wish I'd gone to a better seamstress who did my bustle correctly. My bustle looked like crap b/c she didn't know what she was doing. I hate all the pics of my dress from the back as a result of this

Re: Does anyone else wish they had done anything different?

I wish I hadn't put a cert in my mouth right before I walked down the aisle! My mouth was really dry and my dad had a pack in his pocket. I didn't think about how long it would take me to finish it!!

Seriously, I would have planned my hair appointment earlier. I was rushing from the moment I left the salon to the moment I was taking my first pictures. I also never danced with my grandfathers or brother

Re: Does anyone else wish they had done anything different?

I would have paid more attention to my hair all day long. I didn't spray the top more after I took my veil off and it started to fall through the day. No one told me and I didn't notice but now I see it in the pics and it bothers me.

I would have put more lipstick on throughout the day (although I never wear it anyway).

I would not have had a Rabbi and Priest. DH and I do not believe in religion but we had them do the ceremony as gifts to our parents. It created even more problems than were anticipated. In the long run, it ended up working beautifully though I guess.
