I have two, I was born without two adult teeth, the baby teeth lasted until I was 25.
In Jan. I had the first part done, they drilled anchors into my jaw and put a 'healing cap' on which prevents the gums from growing over the anchor hole in your jaw. That had to heal for 6 months before he could put the impants on.
The initial part took a few hours, lots of novacain and some pain relievers after the fact. It wasn't awful, but my jaw was sore for a few days. The second part is supposed to be much easier - I was supposed to have it don elast month and ended up having to postpone it.

those that had the front teeth done either top and or bottom..how was the pain?

close to 1 year. The tooth had to be extracted - than it had to heal (3mo) Than the implant had to be placed. heal time another (3-4 months) Than the skin had to be cut to allow for the screw to show so that the cap can attach. (2 wks) Than the tooth/cap had to be made custom , you get a temporary while the custom one comes in. approx another (3 months) Over all close to 1 yr.
My mother did her entire front. What a disaster she went through soo much It is worth it in the end and no bridge for me. If you take more than a couple out at a time you should get a temporary plate.

Honestly - getting out my wisdom teeth all 4 at once was worse b/c they were impacted.
The pain isn't so bad for me b/c I had one. I also was put out and got pain meds. Not soo bad. Just it is alot of work to go through if your going to change the front part of your mouth b/c they have to get just the right fit for you. It might take a couple times back and fourth so your face does not change. It is tedious and time consuming.

Each one take about a year. Since mine were all over the place, it took about 3 1/2 years to complete. It depends where they are. I couldn't get any bridges b/c of location of them. It is a very expensive process. If there is any way around it, I would go that way. I had to wear plastic retainers with fake teeth attached. I had to change the date of my wedding from May to June b/c the teeth were not completed and I had a plastic piece in showing on the eye tooth.
The pain is not so bad. Like G said, it is a long and expensive process.
