I have been considering getting one but since it is $350+ I wanted to get some opinions. I have horrible sinus problems and thought the thing might help. Any thoughts?

My BM bought a couple of these and put them around her house. SHe had a bad experience w/them and also the mini ones that you get w/it and plug right into your wall put like black dusty stuff all around the outlet. I asked her how her wall got so dirty since it's a new house and she explained to me her Sharper image air stuff did it. She said don't waste your money.

michele - just to offer a suggestion since you're in a new house - have you had the ducts cleaned recently? i get horrible sinus headaches in our condo, and i have found that cleaning the ducts every other year, plus changing the airfilters regularly (every 250 hours) has made all the difference in the world!!
can't offer any specific advice about the sharper image air filter.

We got one after checking e-pinions and some of the other on-line sources that had good feedback.
It does say not to put the freestanding one within 12' of any surface to avoid the static affect. We don't have any problems with our mini one. Neither of us are smokers, and we live in LI so that may make a difference. When I lived in the city I used to get that black soot on everything just because it came in the windows, vents, etc.
We have ours in the bedroom and have noticed that we're not as affected by congestion and sinus problems. My parents tried it when they were visiting and like it enough to buy themselves two for their home in Arizona. My Mom had a chronic cough and would wake up several times during the night, and it has helped that.
Can't say it's a miracle cure that solves all that ails you, but we have had some positive results.
I think they have a money-back guarantee too, so you could give it a shot if that's the case.

Thanks girls. The air ducts are all new but I did take all of the vents off and vacum them out, plus wipe the insides down. Too bad the Sharper Image thing doesn't work. Infomercials make every look so great.

Definitely save your money!! I had three (i kept returning them cause they broke) I finally gave up. Try an envirocare, my mom has them all over the filters are replaceable, but they seem to work well and she has severe allergies.
