Does anyone know about water pills?

I know they're not reccomended for long term weight loss but...to relieve short term bloating...will they work?

I use them every now & then w/ no issues. If your healthy, I don't see why not.

Thanks Sylvie. I am pretty healthy. But the steroids I was on and then the other meds they put me on have shot my weight up to a point I have NEVER been before. I had to buy new pants eysterday for weight reasons not just to be more fashionable which hasnt happened since college so I am not happy. I am sure it will come off when i can get to the gym again once the PT is done with but our Day After shoot is this Saturday and I CANNOT zip my dress. Mind you, the damn dress fit me 3 weeks ago so its definetly the meds.

I wanted to see if the water pills would reduce some of the bloating.

jen - i really wouldn't do them. my best friend was on water pills for a while, and when she went off of them she gained back almost triple the weight. besides them being really bad for you, they majorly mess with ur system. so just be careful..

Iagree. And besides that, I saw your pictures of the NYC GTG. Your thin as a rail. Am I mistaken? You eat healthy.by the way.....as much as they say to drink a bunch of water all day, it BLOOOOOOOOOOATS you. stay away from salt, and carbs. You'll look fab.

honestly, i'd push back the shoot. jmo. sorry girl..i'm just not a fan of rapid weight loss..ESPECIALLY with pills.no matter what they are or how long u plan on doing them. there are so many natural ways to get rid of bloating.. and honestly - just eating super healthy, drinking a TON of water(and NO salt!!) and going walking this week would probably help.

well...i guess if u plan on just doing it 'till saturday it's no biggie..what harm can it do.. BUT i've had friends that say that, and then they see the pounds comin' off & they KEEP on it because 'they can't believe it'..so dont let it hook u in!

ps: in totally agreement with mel about the g2g pics...i can NOT get over how thin u are!

Yeah, my SIL is on steroids for lupus and she goes through the same thing. I use them for about a week, when I feel bloated. I don't use them long term. If your on meds, you might want to contact your dr. to see.

I have used them short term .. no issues and no weight gain.
Try to drink lots of lukewarm Tea (natural) no sugar additives you might be surprised that can work nicely.

You will be running to the pee room though.

Jenn, could you maybe ask a Dr. for their opinion? See if they think its a bad idea or not? Or maybe ask a nutrionist. I'll ask my BFF she is a PT and nutrionist. I'll see what she thinks.

I know you cant believe everything you read noline, but I found this. Its all about water pills.

Re: Does anyone know about water pills?

i actually used diurex (OTC) and really didnt even think it did me any good... but i didnt have any side effects since i used them for like four days. like someone said, speak with your doctor to find out if you can combine steroids and water pills, there may be an effect there. long term use does fuk with your kidney, but since you only want a quick 1 time solution, just ask your doc if it's be ok for a few days.
