Does anyone wish they wore a different dress or went for a different style?

Original post by nov2004bride

I am so upset that I chose the dress I did. At the time I was going for the fairytale look and after going to a friends wedding, I wish I would have gone for a classier look.

I wish my hair was a lot lower and my dress not so puffy.

I just had to vent to someone

I love my dress but I actually wish it was more poofy! I would have done my hair different as well, I had WAAAAY too many bobby pins

I loved my gown, and it was everything I'd ever dreamed of, and it was definitely me...BUT...since I kept shopping around and trying on gowns after already ordering mine, I also fell in love with another style of gown...so although I don't wish I wore a different gown, I really wish I could have worn TWO gowns!! I even considered buying a second gown to change into at the reception but I know it would have been too much.

i loved my dress and would not have changed a thing about it - however, i do wish i had chosen a different veil - i didnt want it to be as poofy

There were so many dresses that I've seen here on the boards that I've absolutely loved, but I don't think they would've looked good on me. The style of the dress is not quite as important as the way the dress fits you, and my dress fit me to a 'T'. The basque waist and the halter top were a perfect compliment for my build.

Nov2004, your dress was very similar to mine. I loved it on you!!

Originally, I was a little doubtful of my dress...The poofyness of it all was my biggest concern. But, the day I put it on to now..I have no regrets. I loved it and would not have changed a thing..

I really loved my gown, hair and veil so I had no regrets. The only thing I wish is that it hadn't been such a windy day because I barely got to wear my cathedral veil. Oh well.

But, in terms of your gown and hair -- I thought you looked beautiful on your wedding day and you should not have any regrets!

I wanted something very simple with no train. I liked my dress enough, but wish I had gone with my instinct. I had a train, allowed myself to get talked into it with the arguement that 'once its bustled, you won't even notice it....' from the dress shop and my MOH. As we were walking into the CH, DH stepped on the hem of my dress and ripped off one of the buttons that held the bustle, so I ended up carrying around my train most of the night. It just wouldn't stay up without that one button.

It was EXACTLY why I didn't want a train in the first place. I didn't think he would step on it, but had seen the bustle not work for other brides and didn't want that to happen.

I found my dress before DH and I were officially dating and everyone said it was perfect for me. I have no regrets. Sometimes I wonder what it would have been like to have worn a poofy dress and an up-do and long veil etc., but in the end I was happy. My veil came off after the first few dances, and I was much cooler as a result and my dress was so simple that I could go to the ladies room on my own. I didn't need anyone to hold my dress and that was great!!

That reminded me I actually wish my dress had more of a train

It's more of a I wish I got to wear another in addition to mine. I did love mine. My only problem with it was that in my first few fittings, I was wearing a corset bra which pushed everything up and the sleeves kept falling off my shoulders. The seamstress said she would fix it by taking the shoulders in a bit. By the last fitting, we realized that the bra was the problem. I ended up not wearing one at all and the shoulders stayed in place perfectly, but by that time, the seamstress had alreadey taken the shoulders in, which meant the sleeves were taken up. they sat above my wrist and when I look at pics, it annoys me.

First of all, nov2004bride I LOVED your dress and hair and if I were you, I'd have NO REGRETS - you were a perfect bride and just gorgeous, IMO

As for me, I wouldn't change my dress at all - from the minute I'd seen it in a magazine I knew it was 'me' and I never looked back. I didn't 'poof' my dress up the way I was told to, and my seamstress kept telling me it 'didn't look right without an additional crinoline' BUT I'm just not into 'poof' at ALL, so for me it was the right decision to keep it more A-lined

That said, the only thing I would do is change my hairstyle. My stylist did a fantastic job and it looked pretty.. and at the time it was what (I THOUGHT) I wanted. But in retrospect, I felt like my hair was so 'not me' and I wish I'd tried something half up/half down. I look at my pictures and its like I'm looking at a different person .. in 'real life' I NEVER wear my hair up, so I wish I'd rethought it a little more

But I dont truly have any regrets , overall
