Does everyone get a copy of the raw footage before the video is ready?

Does everyone get a copy of the raw footage before the video is ready?

seeing jpsgirl's post got me thinking - is it customary for the B&G to see the raw footage before the final edited video is done?

I didn't think to request this, since the videographer is a professional and should know what to be included, cut out, etc.

Should I call my videographer and request this?

Thanks!

Terri even before they told me one was included, I asked for it. I don't think anyone can tell me what I am sensitive to and what they think should be included. I think even if they do not give it to you to keep they should at least let you view it. I think its the best way to go. If you have confidence in them, then fret not

Scott and I met with Wild Rose after our wedding to discuss music and see a few moments of the video. We didn't watch all of it- it would take 10 hours to do so.

We actually got to edit our raw footage ourselves (make suggestions of what we definetely want cut and what we wanted to stay in)! Since the ceremony was done in a different language and some guests only spoke that language, I was scared that some important parts would be cut off. We were able to get the raw footage back after the eidted version was done!

It did take A LONG TIME to edit, though!!

I got my raw footage with the proofs. They do not even start the editing until I meet with them to go over my album. At that time, I have to supply baby pictures, honeymoon pictures and couple pictures, music and what I want edited out.

I thought that was how ever place worked until what I have read recently on ths board!

I saw my raw footage as well. Then my videograpgher asked what I would like edited out, or certain people if I didnt want in my vid
It is such a BIG difference when you get the edited version.

I knew nothing when I booked my video - I was very stupid, I hadn't done any research or asked what questions to ask (I actually had just found this site) - I figured,a video is a video. You definitely want to see the raw footage, some people even get to keep a tape of it. Our company did not allow this. I would definitley make sure you get to see it. He cut out 2 or 3 things I really wanted on there, and left in 4 or 5 things I didn't. They have actually been really good with the editing though, DH went there yesterday and they told him almost everything I wanted to change was no problem. Oh, how I wish I had been wiser!!!

Teri & jpsgirl,
I feel the same way. I never even thought about raw footage when I booked my video, so I never asked about it. I haven't seen any part of my video yet, but I think for me, its too late to even ask.... my video should be ready any day now, according to the company. Who did you guys use?

Oct - I used Platinum video - he said my video would be ready by Christmas, and no such luck I know 2 months is very quick for a video to be done, but that's what he had said. Since I haven't heard from him in a few wks, I doubt it's finished yet.

I'll call him tomorrow and see what the deal is....I'm getting a little nervous so hopefully we can see some of the raw footage soon!

Teri- Peter supplied us with the raw footage, and other brides that have used him have gotten theirs as well. We didn't really edit it (with a few exceptions), but it was fun to watch while waiting for the finished product. Not nearly as wonderful as the final version though.

I was hoping for our DVDs for Christmas, but I haven't been able to get a hold of Pete - you know how that goes.

Thanks again ladies.

I just spoke with Pete and he's sending me a copy of the raw footage tomorrow. Hopefully I'll receive it by the end of the week. This will now delay the final edited version a little, but I'll be more assured knowing what should now be included.

I just wish I knew earlier to ask for this! LOL

We had a meeting with Wild Rose to look at a little of our raw footage. We didnt see 99% of it but Im not worried...I know Wild Rose would never include anything inappropriate and will do a beautiful job.

I got a copy of my raw footage with my proofs. I would highly recommend having it because they were personal things I was able to ask them to keep in or take out that they probably would done the opposite. I was very happy to have that option.
