for the first time ever, our dog didn't eat breakfast until 1:30pm. it's usually the first thing she does in the morning. she's been acting normal and doesn't look sick.
do your dogs ever do this? think she might be getting sick?

Re: dogs & their food
i wouldnt worry just yet. Sometimes our dog doesnt eat a meal just because her schedule gets thrown off if we are traveling or she sleeps late or something.
if they seem fine otherwise it should be okay. Just keep an eye out and if it goes on for a few days I would call the vet.

Re: dogs & their food
how old is your dog? I found with Candy she goes through stages and I think they are linked to her growth spurts. But if its an adult already then that is different. He could have eaten something and felt lousy and then ate when he felt better. Or a number of things. If it just happens now and then I really wouldn't worry about it.

Yes, it's totally normal. My dog does it all the time....I spoke to my vet about it. They said it can be from either a schedule change, or seperation anxiety....believe me, he won't starve?

yeah my pup is def a little calmer cause of the heat, he is always laying on the hard wood floor instead of his bed...its alot cooler for him
give them ice, they keep them hydrated in incriments!

It depends on the dog...If my dog skipped a meal I would be on the phone with the vet ASAP but that is b/c he always acts like he is starving!

My dog does this all the time.
Put a piece of some people food at the bottom of the bowl. I guarantee he'll eat it!

Re: dogs & their food
Lately my dog has been eating at his leisure, sometimes he eats everything in 5 seconds, other times within a few hours or even a whole day. I'm pretty sure its the heat, my vet seemed to agree, its just too hot to eat.

As long as your dog is drinking and peeing/pooping as usual, I wouldn't worry. If the dog skips a meal every now and then, it's probably schedule/sleep/weather/boredom with the food, and it isn't anything to worry about. If the dog doesn't eat anything for more than a day or two, I would probably contact the vet.

my dog is 8 months old and does things like this all the time, sometimes he will eat breakfast and dinner immediately, sometimes he waits to eat, and sometimes he will only eat one meal, it all varies

splash a little bit of chicken broth on her food. sometimes my dog doesn't feel like eating because of the hot weather, and this always does the trick!
