is punta cana or punta plata better? which would you go to. i don't see a lot of resorts in punta plata

punta cana is where most of the resorts are its the 'tourist' area.

Both are tourist areas but Punta Cana has nicer resorts and perfect beaches. The water in Puerto Plata is rough (lots of waves).

Do a search for Puerto Plata. It is just as popular as Punta Cana.

I also thought you meant Puerto Plata. I been to both and Punta Cana has better resorts and the Ocean is really beautiful. I agree with Nelly, the water in Puerto Plata is rough and no such a beautiful clear blue color (at least when I was there).

puerto plata has a lot of mid market all inclusives...the town and the area was just ok...but there are good deals there

I think punta cana has more resorts. But I bet both areas are pretty. I'd go with where I found the best deal at the nicest place.
