Don't want to be rude or offend anyone, but I'm just gonna say it...

This is a public forum ladies. A VERY public forum as we found out with poor Milana and MJDoc. so if you are hesitant at all about posting anything that you feel might come back to bite you in the butt, whether it be at your job, your personal life, etc, DO NOT POST IT. Period!

People are gettign anxious about their writings and want to edit all their old posts but once you start a thread and others jump in then it needs to really become a mountain cause others have to spend time going back and editing too.

I totally understand some of us have higher profile lives and all of that, but then please use judgement and dont post things that might come back to you. Most of us have our pics up in our profiles and at least our first names, so its ot that hard for people to make the connection if LIW comes up with google searches. i find wacky things on people all the time cause the net is a HUGE scary place now.

I have posted a lot of wackadoo stuff because I dont feel any of it will harm me in the future. But if I had any hesitations, I just wouldnt post it.

In poor Milana and Mel's case, they were attacked without ryme or reason, simply it seems, for being stunning brides and thats bull. Anyone that tracks us down and sits here and tears us apart for anything we write is a cretin.

HOWEVER, that said, we all KNOW there are hideous people out there so if you think a post with sexual content or something about your family, a friend, someone ya know etc, might cuae you grief if others in your everyday life knew about it. DONT POST IT.

That's all...like I said, I don't want to offend ANYONE so I am making this a broad generalization and including myself in there too, cause sometimes I forget that this IS the net because I feel so warm and cozy with most of the ladies here. But I really think people need to start making some better judgement calls. Actions DO have consequences people and we need to try and keep that in mind so we can protect ourselves.Too many wackadoos out there and not all are the good kind like us.

I agree. My DH has never really 'allowed' me to put anything on here that may give away personal info, hes very cautious about stuff like that... Just from a pic of your invite, anyone can find out a lot of personal info, becuase it has pics of last names, also when we shoed everyone all the hoodies with soon to be mrs. so and so..... way to much for the internet.

Its sad that we can't share such nice things, but you cannot trust anyone.

i should be more careful in what i write, its sad that you cant be comfortable and say whatever you want. that you always have to worry if people will search you!!

Yea they are. It ***** because I am friends with several girls here so you forget when you get comfy and post and thnen think SH*tznick!!! Other people might see that! I try and reread what I write before I post it just to make sure Im ok with setting that out there but I too have made mistakes and then tried to go back and edit. But some crazy long threads lol like our pet peeve thread..OYE can you IMAGINE having to edit that monstrosity!

well, for us... it's just common sense. we're all adults and SHOULD understand the lack of boundaries in an open forum such as the internet.. for those who don't, perhaps this is a big eye opener but I can't imagine people don't realize this already.

what frightens me is what teenagers have to deal with....

say in HS... if you did something embarassing or something happened to you... it was humiliating for a few days (maybe weeks...) but nowadays... EVERYTHING is recorded and coupld pretty much live forever.

THAT terrifies me as a mom.

It was so sad they made up a fake boy that on line that pretended to like the girl then the fake boy (who was really a mother and daughter) said he hated her and posted nasty things about her on Mysapce. I was watching 'to catch a predator' the other night and my son walked in the room and I blurted out 'Aidan, STAY OFF THE INTERNET UNTIL YOU'RE 30...' and he replied with 'yeah, I know... a boy killed himself b/c someone was mean to him'

He was referencing some 20/20 or dateline episode I made him watch with me about the dangers of the internet.

HOPEFULLY, I'm educated enough about what is out there lurking on the net (unlike my husband who doesn't even have an email account) that I can properly monitor and warn him when he gets to THAT AGE.

Girls are c*nts... nuff said. I can't even imagine having to deal with cyber bullying on TOP of regular bullying.

Yea thats it. I couldnt remember the whole story. I mean JESUS...To be a mom and do that...she was claiming wasnt her fault and she didnt deserve jail time cause everyone knew the girl was emotionally disturbed. So HELLO if you knew she had issues WHY attack her?!!! People are insane.

the difference btwn a 20-30 year old woman being bullied (i.e: US) and a teenager are HUGE. I don't think I could rationally turn the other cheek if I were Melissa or Milana, if this happened to me at 13, 14....

Well thats good that you're telling him now. I hate the idea of scarign our kids, but these days you really have to scare the sh*t out of them. There was this thing on oprah I liked, showing a guy who ahd perfected this series of self defense for kids. It was basic stuff like screaming of course and saying 'I dont know this person,' but also interesting things like flattenign yourself on the floor and crabwalking away so theres less of them to grab when an abductor is trying to snatch them.

They also said if the kids gets thrown into a car, they should try and climb to the front and wrap themselves around their attacker like an octopus because the more work the attacker has to do to peel them off, the more time they're wasting in their getaway and the better chance there is of someone seeing the attack and helping. If we have kids Im going to make them watch it.

You HATE as a parent to make your kids afraid but Id rather have them afraid and safe with me, then God forbit the other possibility.

I think one of the good VDs is called Break and Run for kids, by some FBI guy. Teaches little guys how to get away.

my son's school had some people come in and speak about this.... teach the kids some *techniques* sadly, not many parents attend the PTA meetings and missed out.

GOOD. LOL I always tell DH that if we have kiddies, they're always going to eb sayign 'MOOOOOM not again!' LMAO cause I will be on them like white on rice. Sure, be a kid, act out a little. Thats normal. But you're not going on the internet without me there next to you until you're old enough to drive and even then, FIRST time I catch monkey business, back to the stone age for them. Maybe I cant protect them from everything but I sure can try.

its sad that becuase of the internet bully hasn't stopped at 13, it continues with adults now which before the days of the internet would have never happened. my MIL says the internet is going to bring us all down!

When I was a teenager, I was stalked by some guy and he would call and tell me he would see me in my pool swimming, and what i was wearing and he also told me he saw me at the beach at night for a dare program (mind you cops run the damn thing) and it turns out it was some creep that i had met on aol in a game room!! somehow he found me and was watching me. people are freakin crazy. Mind you since then, I'm scared of everyone!
