don't you hate it when.........

you DRAG your butt to work even though you're still sick (I called out Monday) and as soon as you walk in, you're boss tells you 'you look terrible, you shouldn't have come in today'.......well geeeeeee, nice of them to say it, but after enduring the A train for almost an hour my butt is staying here until we can leave (hopefully early!) and I was sitting there feeling guilty even for calling out on Monday, thinking 'well they must think I'm starting my drinking fest early'.

maybe this never happens to you and you're a normal person who just calls out when you have to.......but my DH tells me I'm a little wussy baby if I stay home with 'the sniffles' soooooooo, here i am!!! torturing my co-workers with my nose blowing hehehe

OMG you just had me laughing out loud! My boss.....the walking kleenex....imagine that one lol.....actually the points would be even higher if I get to target my cubicle neighbor with my sneezes. He's 40 yrs old, an eternal bachelor who lives in the city, and thinks he's god's gift to women- soooooo not attractive, he's overweight from going out drinking everynight and finishing the night off with like White Castle or something.....what a hot mess!!! and then he's ALWAYS on the phone w/ some poor female victim aka barfly he's encountered no doubt the night before, talking to her like he's Barry White or something.....spare me the love tones pllllllease!!!!!!!! oh and he wears the worst cologne EVER! ok, I think I'm done venting, I'll now get back to my goal of sneezing on co-workers!

Feel better. I hate feeling awful and then for them to say why did you come in to you makes all your effort seem like such a waste. On the other hand if you didn't show up today word around the office would be that Helen ever since she got married has turned into quite the partier and is missing work constantly. Her partying ways are going to tarnish her golden reputation.

2 weeks ago I went to work with awful neck pain. I was basically counting the seconds of the day. My mom called me at work that day and I swear I was almost crying down the phone to her. She told me if it was so bad I should go home. I roughed it through the day. The next morning my mom called me at home to see how I was feeling I told her I called out of work and she was basically yelling at me for missing a day even though i have never taken a sick day. I swear I can never win. DH said we are not allowed any phone calls from her before noon

actually the boss is pretty conservative.....the 40 yr old bachelor is a colleague- he's one of the project managers who just happens to sit next to me.....yes this man has actually been given responsibility in this company

wow that s*cks! but you're right, you can't win!!! Next thing you know the rumors would be flying that I'm prego (since everyone round here likes to ask me about that anyway) AND I'm in AA!! that would make for a nice combo! ha! so maybe it IS better I'm here today as walking phlegm just to prove I'm not a drunken pregnant woman!

I can relate. i am propped up against my desk pretetnding to function today; wearing the bathroom key around my neck. I have hotten a few 'You look awful' but no one has suggested I go home-they know if they do I will say 'ok I am OUT!'

I have worked sick but my bosses travel so much they don't really see me; if i leave early I can forward my phone to my Bberry and still be a little productive.. I'm lucky though, they are VERY easy to work for!!!
