I am in the process of choosing an OBGYN. I heard great things on here about Dr. Hanauer but now am second guessing because i have read the office is very busy, there is an hour wait every time you go for an appointment, they put you on hold for a half hour when you call, etc.
I am kind of reluctant after hearing this because when I am pregnant I would like a doctor who would be accesible.
Please share your experience with her and her office with her and tell me if my concerns are warranted

Re: Dr. Hanauer
I've read the same reviews about her as well. I hear shes an amazing doctor, especially as an OB. However, when i was looking for a new OBGYN I called her office to make an appt, and the earliest spot they could give me was 3 months later! i was like noooo way. I was already way overdue for an exam so I had to go elsewhere

Yea thats what im worried about, especially when I am pregnant I don't want to have to wait months to be able to see a doctor. Especially with the hours I work it will be hard enough to get there!

Re: Dr. Hanauer
when i found out i was pregnant i wanted to go to her. i called and was put on hold for about 10 min, then got hung up on. i called again, and was on hold for another 10 min, so i gave up. from what i've read about her, for an annual you'll have to wait a while for the appt, but if you're pregnant, it doesn't take as long to get an appt.
ETA: the women on LIF on the TTC and Pregnancy boards all rave about her.

i think that's how it is with most ob/gyn - i took the first appt. with raber last summer and I waited for almost an hour before she saw me.. meanwhile a a lot of preggos just came in during that time and walked right in.. and the reason for the delay she said was, there were a few newly pregnant appts. made during the week.. so i am not sure

I was lucky enough to start seeing her 4 years ago. Since then, she's been featured on the Today Show, etc. and she's become VERY popular. She's an amazing doctor but it does take a long time to get your first appointment, etc. Once you're under her care, she'll squeeze you in if need be. Once you're her patient, she works very hard to take care of you. She is wonderful and worth the wait.

i wanted to add that they have slots that they will not give to regular checkups.. usually they ask are you preggo.. so i guess thats a good think.. i would just get in with her because, most docs stop taking patients for a while when they have a huge clientale..
