Dress Advice

I have fallen in love with a wedding gown; however, it is not your typical gown. It is a bias cut sheath dress, silk with a small cowl neck and verly low back. I reminds me of the gorgous Carolyn Bissettes's wedding dress.
Do you think I will regret not getting a bridy gown (strapless, A-line...which I LOVE as well)?
Did anyone else face this?
Thanks

I didnt have that type of gown but I dont believe in the whole 'when else can you wear a big gown' theory. Some girls want to be a princess on their wedding day, some want to be a supermodel. If you are the supermodel type, go for the chic dress.

It depends on what look you want. Why don't you try on a few different styles and bring someone with you for an honest opinion.

I Love strapless A-line gowns but for some reason I am more drawn to the sheath dress.
Do you think I will regret not wearing a more bridal gown when I look back on my pictures?
I definitely want to look like the bride but I feel like the sheath dress could be worn at another function (in a different color).
I dont know why I am stressing so much over this.
Thanks for your advice!

Re: Dress Advice

What kind of wedding are you having? A shealth is beautiful and regretting it will all be about who you are. I know girls who have worn sheaths and dont regret it at all. But I dont think many women regret their choose of wedding gown.

Unless you are on an extreme budget, I wouldnt worry too much about re-wearability. This is your wedding dress after all...if you only wear it once, its ok.

I loved Carolyn's gown - it was gorgeous. I wanted something similar at first, but when I tried them on, they did nothing for me - then I realized I wanted something more poofy.

But if you love it on you, then GO FOR IT!

It is a personal choice. I always wanted a gown some girls want a sheath. I don't think you regret the decision if you feel like a princess in it.

Re: Dress Advice

Have you looked around and still find you are coming back to this dress? I always loved sheath dresses but at first I tried them on and they were not flattering. I was almost ready to buy a tradtional gown. Well, I finally found a strapless sheath (with a slight bit of an aline bottom) and I just knew it was for me. I didn't want to take it off. If you love the dress, you should know. Don't worry about what other people will think. If you are comfortable and feel pretty that attitude will show. You are the bride and no dress changes that!!!

In between when I bought the dress and the big day, every now and then I thought about what other people would say and regretting not being traditional. I can tell you, everyone complimented my dress! There was no mention of tradition. The word eveyone used was elegnat! I got a long flowy veil and I felt very much like a bride. I do not regret my dress choice at all.

Niecey-Thank you so much! You are completely right. I appreciate your advice and think I just needed to hear those words from another bride who wore a sheath dress! I am having my wedding at the North Ritz! I fell in love with it! I am going to do a search for your review! I have looked at some of your pictures and you looked beautiful!
Thanks again!!!!!!!!!
