dumb AOL question..

ok so ys i stil pay 15 buck a month for aol..even though i alwaysgo on using ie...ok so if i cancel it do i still get my email and aol mail?

No, you won't. At least, in the old days you could not maintain it without paying for your account. But this was like 8 years ago at this point so I'm not sure!

They told my mom automatically like more than 5 yrs ago that AOL was free and she wouldnt be charged anymore... No idea why you're still paying...

You can also get as many email adresses for free as you like...

umm my parents havent paid for aol in the longest time, and my aol still works! i use it all the time...i usually use aol.com to check my mail, but my mom is old school and still signs on thru aol

I stopped paying for AOL like 6 yrs ago. Call them ASAP!

Edited to add that my email addy is still the exact same one I had in HS, just free.

I'm pretty sure you keep your email account and can just access it online. I still use AIM and have my old screen names but we canceled AOL in the 90s.

Yes i too just cancelled paying for AOL. You will keep your aol screen name but will not get any online help or Virus protection. So if you are using McAfee thru AOL u need to purchase a new Virus Protection & install it on your comp. ASAP!

The account my name was under got canceled in 2003 and I lost access to my email

Thanks for bringing this up. My parents are still paying $24.95 a month but they also have the Optimum plan (cable, phone, internet). My dad keeps saying he doesn't want to change his e-mail address so they think that if they cancel AOL they will lose their accounts and have to make new e-mail addresses @optonline.net.

DH and I have Comcast for tv and internet (we're in VA) but I am using AOL right now. Our PC crashed and we got it fixed up. I downloaded AOL from a site and all of his previous accounts were saved somehow. Not sure how this works or how he signed up to AOL in the first place.
