I went to a wedding on May 31st. Yesterday I received their version of a thank you-their wedding picture on one of those picture/Christmas cards where most people put their CHRISTMAS pictures. It said 'Season's Greetings-Thank you for your wedding gift.' with a one sentence note from them. I realize this is better than nothing, but if you're going to combine your Christmas cards with your thank you notes do it if you're a fall bride, not a May bride and at least get the cards to the people BEFORE Christmas.
A few months ago I got a thank you card for a baby shower 7 months after the shower in the same envelope as the birth announcement and the christening invitation. I did not go to the party.
I attended two other spring/summer parties at which we gave a generous gift and received no thank you.
These four people were all DH's friends. Hmmm.
Vent over. Thanks for listening to what in the grand scheme of things is a petty complaint. I would say let's all watch our ettiquette in 2004 but I'm sure I'd be preaching to the choir.

You're not picky at all. Thank you's aren't fun, but they are necessary. I think the shower thank you/birth announcement/christening invitation in one envelope is pretty bad!

Yikes!!! I put thank yous in a couple of birth announcements. It wasn't for my shower though but for gifts given when I was in the hospital and then gifts sent to our house. Whoops I guess I shouldn't have done that I'll blame baby brain.

Stacey, that sounds totally fine. It was the fact that it was 7 months after the shower and the presence of the christening invite that got me, along with the lack of a note in the card. You had seven months, pick up a pen and write something.
I'm sure people were happy to get Damien's picture with their thank you.

I don't think you're being picky either....combining TYs and holiday/other cards is a no no in my book too

Stacey thar's totally different. A shower is usually held at least 2 or 3 months before the baby is born, so the thank you's should have gone out long before the baby was born.
I think what you did was fine, AND saved you a stamp!

Re: Either I'm getting picky
We were raised that we couldn't have our present until we sent a TY. Out e-party TY's were out in 6 days and we had about 75 people there.

Not picky at all. Sounds like they were lazy. lol.
I like the idea of combining the holiday/thank you cards when the wedding was NEAR the holiday. I got married May 31st and would never have combined...hello it was 7 months ago. lol.

WOW! you are not being picky at all. TYS are so annoying to do and time consuming but very important. I get so angry when I get a ty that just says 'TY for your gift... I hope you had fun' I think thats being lazy!

Re: Either I'm getting picky
I got married in October, and I would never have sent a combo card. I made sure I mailed oput my TYs before my Christmas Cards. I got my Christams Cards out on the Monday before CHristmas, since i would not send them out beore the TY's. I also wrote my TY's in a week form getting the pics back.
I am waiting on ty's for a 8/31/03 wedding I went to.

Re: Either I'm getting picky
well....I got married 9/27 and did not get my pro pics back til just before Christmas. (I wanted to include a pic in the TYs - and I did not get any proofs at all for 3 months!)
At that point I already had of course mailed my Christmas cards....and will be sending my TYs this month - does that make me rude?
A friend of mine had a baby in October, and all in one day we received a Christmas card, a birth announcement and a thank you card from them - lol DH and I thought it was cute!

You are not being picky at all.
People just do not have any sense of what is right.
Just plain lazy- these people were.

Re: Either I'm getting picky
Yikes! I got married in July and I'm still working on TYs. However, I did not include them in the Christmas card. I wanted the TYs out either a month before Christmas or right after. But to include them with the Christmas card is a bit tacky!
