sorry...but so not missing NY... it has been in the upper 60s at all times...and in the sun it is so warm...
we go for walks every day with our dog (we have miles of trails behind our apartment complex) I forgot my camera...but what a view we have...we are right on the back of rose canyon and can see the famous soledad cross from our yard...
this is a pic I took from the cross...and the yellow circle is where we are living...
the sunsets have been anmazing in the hills...and sunrises are just as fantastic...I wake up early b/c of jet lag...and I don't want to be completely off NY time...b/c I still have 1 week of work to go in NY
yesterday we were downtown eating in a tapas restaurant and decided to explore the possibilities of opening our own (there is none in la jolla...where we are)...we just have to convince DH's aunt to come out to cook for us
I'm on my way back to NY tomorrow night for a week...then I pack up my car and leave next sunday!! should be interesting (this is the third time I am driving cross country!!)

Erica, I am so happy you are loving it. What is tappas??
When we visit San Diego in December I must stop in to see you. Keep us updated you are still a NY
thanks everyone...right now we are in la jolla (renting), but I don't know if we can afford to be here permanantly!! we went to a realtor and they said starting prices are $600K...but the views are amazing...once we settle down a little more...adn scope out good areas to be...we'll find a place...
we can't decide if we want to be near the beach or the canyons...

Erica, will you be driving by yourself??? will you be stopping to rest at a hotel(s) How long is the drive??
I have a friend thats coming with me...she had tons of vacation...but could only take a certain 2 weeks...so I had to leave my job early...no big deal...
we should have a good time...we are going through the rocky mountains in colorado and vegas!!
shamma...there are less expensive places...but I'm spoiled I guess...plus were really not in sticker shock...too much...since we were around the NY prices...

yes, I hear La Jolla is one of the most expensive places to live, and CA in general is pretty comparable to NY! I'm sure the weather alone justifies the high cost of living

Wow, I didn't realize you were in CA already. How exciting!
Ooooo, and a cross-country car ride next week? That's my dream-to take some time off and wander from coast to coast. Have a happy and safe trip!
Best wishes with the move! It's a very brave thing to leave your comfort zone and try something new.
Oh, and don't forget about Torrey Pines (between La Jolla and Del Mar).
ss - love torrey pines...and would love to be so close to a golf course!!!!
teri...besides housing and gas...everything is a lot cheaper...I was in heaven in the supermarket with all the fresh and inexpenisve fruit!! our cable bill is 2/3 of what it was in NYC and power is about the same!!
