HI Ladies... I need to vent.... went to my photographer today to pick out my album and walked out spending $1200!!!! I am just frustrated. i have to say he really worked with us... but i just feel that maybe i should have went with a more expensive package in the beginning and then maybe i wouldn't have been hit sooo hard with extra costs....but when you're absolutely broke and you're paying for everything yourselves, what choice did we have?
my album in my original package only included 40 pictures... i thought 'oh that will be enough.' well, when you have over 800 beautiful proofs... i couldn't help but go over... i went as low-key as i could, but still---- .. and my mom's album...she went over there, but she did so much for my wedding i told her to pick out whatever she wanted, don't worry if it's over 12 pics.... and it was totally over that....and then, for extra perks to the video that i didn't think i wanted/needed before the wedding, afterwards i knew i really should get... another $100.00 i guess i'm just feeling frustrated all around.... i am so DONE with wedding details!! i hope my frustration now won't make me resent my album or video when they come in....
I am also frustrated with the house search too...we can't afford much and everytime we tell people where we just put in an offer, we get 'that's ghetto' 'that's a terrible school district' 'do you want to live there?' since when is west babylon the ghetto???? clue me in anyone if you think that... because i don't want to move somewhere bad, but we liked it. well, when the only money you have is the little bit you got from your wedding, it's hard to buy anything here. sometime i wish i had more money... i know it's not important in the end and money is not what makes you happy, but it sure would make life easier sometimes!!!
anyone else feel this way? sorry for the long vent....
and p.s. did i get ripped off???

Re: Errghh... I am so DONE!
I doubt you got ripped off, wedding photographers are just so damn expensive. I chose the smallest package and only get 36 photos in my album. That was 3K and DH and I have to wait for the bank to unfreeze our wedding funds to pay the balance on the proofs... (Yes they are IN!!!)
I know what you are saying about money. DH and I also want to buy something, but we want to remain in Williamsburg which is big bucks. We decided that we will continue to rent in this uber-cool neighborhood for another year or so and then seriously look for something in a less trendy neighborhood to buy. I feel the same way about money. Of course it doesn't bring true fulfillment, but it sure does bring comfort. Sigh...
At least we have loooooooove...

I dont think you got ripped off but I can understand your frustration. I opted to have the pics placed on a disc and handed over to me. my photographer is making me an album for us and I can have all the pictures

Re: Errghh... I am so DONE!
I completely understand your frustration!!! I walked in to create my album and walked out spending about an extra $1000. Between the added pictures we just 'had to have' the pictures on disc, and the extra enlargements.... AHHH!!!!!
As for your house search, West Babylon is not 'The Ghetto'!!!! No one said you have to live there forever. West Babylon is a great place for your first house. 1. It's not too expensive and 2. It's a popular area with a great turn over rate if and when you decide to move.
DH and I just bought a house in Lindenhurst. Yeah it may not be the most glamorous of areas, but you know what? The last year has been great to me. I am happily married to my best friend, and own a house that I can gain equity on instead of renting for several more years just so I could skip over the 'starter house step'

Re: Errghh... I am so DONE!
heheheh... yeah, I just picked up the first 1/3 of my proofs... and had an album conversation with my photographer
our original package (almost 4k ) does NOT include an album. DH bought a really nice leather album for my B'day, and I'm going to do it myself.
he offered again to do our album (I think the figure he flung over to me was $1200?) and I said I'm going to do it myself. His expression was exactly this: I bluntly do not have the $$$ for that luxury. We intend to work off the proofs, and get maybe a dozen or so pricy enlargements from the photographer, and THAT'S IT.
we want to finally save $$$ for a house!!!
our photographer is pretty funny though... he simply smiled and said 'well, what's more important, a house or a wedding album'
