battery operated drills! I bought this one for $15 last week and I have used it for a bunch of projects this weekend. At first I thought it wouldnt be powerful enough but would have to do b/c I didnt want to spend a lot on a 'real' one. Well, ive been using it and it does a great job without being too big or complicated to use. Its one of the best $15 Ive ever spent!
This weekend I put up velvet curtains to replace the ugly sliding doors in my bedroom (below), a photo collage (below), some hanging hooks (not pictured)and put together some storage shelves with this drill (not pictured).
I dont know if I was the only one daunted by projects that required drilling holes into the walls but no more
Note: These photos look pretty crappy b/c the colors are all off (didnt bother messing with them too much to correct the color)...but it looks good I swear :P

Go Stef! DH thinks I am crazy since I asked him for the Black and Decker stud finder tool that then shoots a laser across the wall so you can mark everything level by using the laser as the guide! I am definately the tool-oriented one in the house!

Re: Every woman needs one of these....
I took a tile laying class at Home Depot a few weeks ago, because it was Ladies night, so I wouldn't feel stupid...
They did a bunch of raffles at the end of the night, and I won the big prize (that all the women ooooed and ahhhhhhhed about) - it was a drill (nice and compact like yours), an electronic stud finder (the coolest thing) and a laser level (which DH was thrilled about)...

Laser level and stud finder??? That is awesome. How much do one of those cost?
There is a ladies night at Home Depot?

Re: Every woman needs one of these....
Actually - I don't know how much they cost, because I won (by the way I never win ANYTHING, but even the employees of Home Depot said 'wow - you got really lucky with that prize')...I'm assuming all 3 together were over $100...
They were black and decker...
This was the first time that the Home Depot in East Meadow held a ladies night. You had a choice between about 8 different classes (faux finishes, hanging a ceiling fan, installing a faucet, etc.)...IMO the one I went to wasn't so great because I really needed a class for beginners and the instructor was speaking to us as if we had prior knowledge. But the prize was worth it, and I would go again to a different one (just for the raffle - LOL). Not sure if other Home Depots do a ladies night...

If we did not already have a power drill, I would definitely look in to getting it. Where did you get it Stef, I could probably get it for a friend who has a house warming party coming up

Re: Every woman needs one of these....
Home Depot is fun too but its a little daunting, particularly the one closest to me since there are virtually no 'civilians' there - just burly contractors who look at me and sneer :D
I went to the Gateway Plaza Target but its really far from my house so I have to beg Luke to take me :LD

Good going, Stefanie!! I think that chicks with tools are awesome (and we tend to get the job done quicker than our DHs).
I have the same drill and love it! DH makes fun of me...he's a real tool guy, but he'll only play with the biggest, toughest tools. He thinks mine are too 'wimpy'. HA! My wimpy drill has done more around the apt. than he realizes!!

Shama:Nope - I dont drive. Driving = torture for me.
Ss: My DH is the same way...he thinks my tools are wimpy..but if I waited for him to do these projects, I would be old and grey before they got done.

Re: Every woman needs one of these....
DH won't LET me touch the tools. I know how to do things like that. My Mom and I grew up without a man around the house so we made due. Brian just insists on doing everything for me regarding tools. Thinks I'm going to ruin his precious sheetrock or something.

Re: Every woman needs one of these....
JM: As long he is doing it, let him! I have a husband who doesnt like stuff on the walls, wants everything one color and likes everything very plain...so he is not much help when it comes to sprucing up
