Excellence Punta cana

We just booked a trip for April break with a group of friends!!! I cant wait!!! I told FH that Ill be d@mned if our next vaca is Sesame Street!! We need one more honeymoon before kids! has anyone been there or have any reviews or recomendations???

i went; me and dh first trip together like 4 years ago. it was great!!! the place was gorgsous the people were so friendly. food was just ok, and country is very poor. roads are not roads; theyre just like dirt and rocks. it is a very long and bumpy ride from airport to the hotel, guards also on each end of the resort beach with rifles, but in general, at the end, it was worth it. we had a great time. haha.

We went for our honeymoon and had a great time. We have never been anywhere else, so we have nothing to compare it to. We didn't go on any of the excursions, because we were lazy and having a good time. Met a bunch of really nice people. I agree the food was ok...DH was upset there wasn't more Domenican food. If you can, get a swim up room :) They are the best! Plus you don't have to walk far!

dh and i went there dec 05 and our experience was similar. yes there are cops w/rifles but i didn't feel unsafe. so don't worry.
we went on the catamaran boat trip which was a lot of fun. its this big boat w/about 20 other people on it. you take a 2 hour bus ride to the other side of the island then a boat trip to this seculded area and they have a great BBQ. all food and drinks are included in the price of the boat trip. bring lots of bug spray and sun screen since theres little shade and bees.

We actually JUStw ent there this August for our honeymoon. We liked the EXcellence in Cancun better ad far as the newness of the resort and the food but the people in Punta cana were fabulous and we had just the best time. FM me for details but if you go u will LOVE it!

I just got back from Punta Cana early this morning. I thought that the country was beautiful, definitely very poor, but the people are very friendly.
I wouldn't recommend the hotel that we stayed at but from the other reviews it sounds like you picked a good one!

We were at the Excellence Riviera Cancun for our honeymoon which is basically the same resort in another country- you will LOVE it. I hear they are very similar. The restaurants are awesome, service is great. I met a woman in Cancun who actually preferred the Punta Cana resort...saying the staff was more into partying or whatever. Don't know much about the DR but I do hear it's a long, sad drive to the resort.
