Extra guests at reception?

Extra guests at reception?

That seems to be a big complaint of a lot of the new brides that I know. Did this happen to you at your reception? How did you handle this? How do you tastefully ask your guests to keep THEIR guests at a minimum?

I've been having nightmares that 50 xtra guests bombard their way into my reception. Give me relief please. Thanks!

We didn't experience this problem. We were on the other end with some no shows. I wouldn't worry about that many people crashing your wedding. If it got out of hand, the catering/facility manager I am sure would know how to handle it.

just remember to make sure that you get a final count ahead of time. call your guests the week before or two weeks before to get a definite number. make sure they realize that you have to give in an accurate number to your hall and that's why you're calling. after that i don't think anyone will think of bringing extra guests.

good luck! ill be facing the same problem very soon

Kesha, people cannot just show up at your wedding, they have to be invited, this is not a BBQ. You have to give your hall a head count and that is how many place setting they will have and that is how many guest you will be charged for. If it so happens that they bum rush your place where will they sit?? Fret not sweetie, univited guest will not just show up. When they get your invite and you state on it 2 people are invited you will then get calls asking why they can't bring others. Hope your planning goes well. Take care

I know I had a few extras, and I had a few people missing. So I am assuming it worked itself out, or CB dealt with it.

My mother took a few hundred dollars with her, just in case. I personally didn't agree with her having to shell out more money for an uninvited person, but her rationale was that she didn't want to have a make a scene with anyone at her only daughter's wedding.

We were very worried about this issue as well. It turns out we had about 5 extra people show up that were not invited. We specified that it was an Adult only reception, but 3 people still brought small children! But it seemed to balance out becuase a few people who RSVPed did not show. We also had about $1000 extra on hand to pay for up to 10 extra people, but we also underestimated out final count by 5, becuase we were expecting this from some of the people we invited!
Hope this helps!
