Extremely p/o'd about what I found out occurred at my wedding...

I went to Brooklyn yesterday and visited my Godfather and his wife...when discussing my wedding, my aunt told me that she had a horrible time and this is why...
I had to seat their family of 7 with four people that they did not know. They were from Brian's side. They were his mother's fiance's family. I had originally had them with my other cousins, but people called me three days before the wedding and said they were sick so I had to condense the tables. Anyway, they were, to me, nice people~outgoing with good sense of humors. I thought they would all get along well.
As it turns out, one of the two men made many comments directly to them about being from Brooklyn... first, he made fun of their accents. They do have very strong Brooklyn accents, but who gives a &*^%? I had one at one time too when I lived there. Then he said to them that he has never been to Brooklyn, but he drove through there once and it was disgusting so he wouldn't get out of the car (he said he was afraid to get out as well). We are from Windsor Terrace/Park Slope border. There is nothing disgusting about the part of Brooklyn I come from...these morons are from Commack. Then he had the balls to say to them that this isn't their, ie, my family's, type of place because they won't be serving any hamburgers at ths wedding. W*T*F??? I find this out after a year! My family does not look like white trash, they do not look like mafia... they are normal, upper middle class well dressed people with careers and do not give off an impression of anything less! They just felt like starting with the comments because they are from Brooklyn! This a88 wasn't even drunk...totally sober.
I am so embarrassed! I told Brian that there is no way in hell they are invited to Juliette's Christening! Any of their family. I am mortified though and feel so badly because my family had a horrible time at my wedding because of people that are nothing to me!

First of all, Brooklyn is disgusting??? W T F ?!! Like Commack is the Hamptons or something? No offense to anyone from Commack, but every town his its bad and good sections. My dad is from Brooklyn and we have relatives there that we visited all the time growing up. I never thought of it as disgusting (Bay Ridge) and was never scared there

And as I was reading the beginning of your post I'm thinking, why would anyone tell a couple that they had a horrible time at their wedding? That's something that you keep to yourself. But in this case, it's a good thing that you were told so that you could totally cut that dumb piece of $hit totally out of your life

What a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSER!!! I don't know anything about Comack but I do know Brooklyn I'm so sorry Lau, what an a$$hole. but you know its a good thing they weren't at MY table...or maybe it's not bc I would have put them in their place in a second. Seriously, at least people from Brooklyn have enough class not to make fun of a person's area while they're sitting right there! animals.

He may have a very small penis. That's insecurity talking. People who have to put down others to make themselves look better.

I can sympathize with your pain. Our bridesmaid from hell offended our best man, and his now wife. She was so horrible to them that they left the wedding early.

It makes me feel sick to my stomach that these people will always remember my wedding reception with negativity because of one nasty, evil b!tch.

I will never forgive her. And, she will never be invited to any function that we host ever again.

But, whenever we do have parties, I try to make sure that our best man and his wife are seated in the best spot, with the classiest people, and that he receives the highest level of service possible.

Try not to let it bother you too much. I have terrible memories of my friend's wedding not because of rude guests, but due to personal things that were taking place in my life at the time. It doesn't affect my relationship with her, and as long as SHE had a wonderful day, it really is not that big of a deal to me.

I would agree that I probably would exclude them from future gatherings, if at all possible.

Oh boy - some people are just idiots.

I'm from Commack and not to bash my own town but some people here especially in the nicer sections of town think theirs 'don't stink'. Even now I live in E. Northport and some people make it a point to say 'I'm on the Northport side'. What the???

Unfortunately it doesn't matter where you're from - some people just don't have class. I would definitely exclude them from further gatherings as they have shown a lack of respect for other people as well as a lack for you and Brian.

I am so embarrassed though. I wish they would have said something sooner.

Well, I mentioned it to MIL and she said that I should not make teh whole family suffer just because the father is an A**. I don't know, Brian said he would rather none of them came. He loves my godfather and his wife. We have to see. I am so hurt though and would really rather not have any of them there.

What douches!! Who were they to make comments like that!! Duh, they were obviously at your wedding because they were close to you, not strangers off the street. He could have used a little discretion with his prejudiced statements. I don't blame you for not wanting them at your precious baby's christening. Who needs them??
