FAVORITE BOOK THREAD

Since I cannot keep a track of all the great books that you ladies recommend, I wanted to start a thread for all the great books to be in one place

Let me get the ball a rolling and recommend my favorite author of all times Mary Higgins Clarke, I do not even have to write a title, any book by her is awesome, I have read every single one :EMO9:

Keep the thread going and add your own favorites. Please do not forget Title and author

Re: FAVORITE BOOK THREAD

Here are some of my best finds:
The Red Tent (one of my all-time favorites)
Girl with Pearl Earring (great read, not too heavy but very, very interesting)
Memoir of a Geisha (Wow. Talk about learning about a world none of us knows about. You really get into this different way of life and its impact on women)
The Lovely Bones (sad, but what a great read!)

There is also a great book called The Friendship Cake that I really, really enjoyed reading. I even gave it to Claud as a gift. It is all about what bonds friends have and how we help one other thru the hard times.

I love books that do not end the way you want them to or think they 'should'. I don't read a lot of romance novels. Occasionaly I read a 'Lifetime' movie or 'Oprah' book. 'The Pact' was pretty interesting and I finished it in a few days.

But my ALL TIME favorite is Gulliver's Travels.

Tuesdays With Morrie
Sad, but what a quick, important book everyone should read. Although it's about death, it's more about living than anything else... if that makes any sense.

Re: FAVORITE BOOK THREAD

Ladies I am so happy you are adding your favorite books, could you please not forget to add the author as well Thanks

My GF works at the library and when I ask her to reserve me a book she always gives me such a hard time, when I do not have the author.

Keep em coming

Re: FAVORITE BOOK THREAD

I love to read, always have and always will, especially on the subway in to work!! Although I am not a Harlequin person (can't stand them), I am the romance-suspense-lawyery-type queen! I think I'm going to start checking out some 'real' books and not my sappy novels!!!

Re: FAVORITE BOOK THREAD

Do you own all those books?? I thought I was bad, but I seem to have competition. I read the Good in Bed book. Can we say book exchange??

I love James Patterson
John Grisham
Terry McMillan
Eric Jermone Dickey
Anything by E Lynn Harris

I love to read and the best place is indeed the subway. I even read while walking in the street

Re: FAVORITE BOOK THREAD

I love Jodi Piccoult and Wally Lamb - all Jodi Piccoult books especially Keeping Faith. She's Come Undone and I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb were terrific. The Harry Potter series is great. And I can't think of anything else right now. I haven't read since the summer ... I can recommend some Horrible Text books!

Re: FAVORITE BOOK THREAD

I read a lot of Science Fiction / Fantasy stuff -- so if anyone else is into these books let me know & I'll swap book lists...

As far as straight fiction, try The Beach House by James Patterson & Peter DeJonge. It's set in Montauk. It's a great 'train read' for my fellow LIRR commuters!

Another good book is The Nanny Diaries by Emma McLaughlin & Nicola Kraus. An insider's look at the lfe of a nanny to the ultra-rich -- read it before they turn it into a terrible movie!

Idon't know if anyone else might be interested, but there's a great, short book about how women can get ahead in the workplace called Play Like a Man, Win like a Woman. It really is an awesome book that made a lot of points that struck home. It's a must-read for any women working in a corporate enviornment.

Re: FAVORITE BOOK THREAD

I second Memoirs of a Geisha...although it is a recent book...I think it has definitely taken my top fave book spot...(and imagine it was written by a Dutch man!!)

but I have to disagree with the lovely bones...just read it for my book club at work and i absolutely HATED IT!!!

I have always loved the Stand by S King (although Im not a huge King fan) as well...love the battle of good and evil...
