Alright, I know this is really pathetic .. but I need to vent somewhere where people might just understand. I feel like I've been in a downward spiral at work .. making decisions that just seem to come out wrong, and it's really getting to me, and getting me down. I admit I'm a work-a-holic, and when things at work are going right, life is great, but when things are going wrong, like they have been lately, I'm miserable. I have this hopeless feeling that no matter what I do, I just can't win .. I really hate that.
I try to approach each day with renewed hope, knowing it's a clean slate, but then it usually ends up the same. When I get in these moods, my husband tells me 'so quit,' which bugs me.
I know I'm not the only one to feel this way regarding work, or whatever .. I remember my mom saying more than a few times growing up .. 'I just can't win.' How does everyone else go about keeping their spirits up when you feel like you just keep getting beaten down??

Re: Feeling Blue
Hugs to you, Kel! I know that when things are bad it seems like they'll never get better. I've been there. It helps me to remind myself that NOTHING lasts forever, be it good or bad, and that the bad time will soon pass. It also helps to vent, so I'm glad you did. I think you need a 'Kel' day, where you do nothing but things YOU enjoy, talk to or get together with favorite friends, be pampered, and unwind. If you have to take a sick day to do it, then go ahead, because times like this are truly what mental health days are all about.
I'll be thinking about you... email me any time.

Re: Feeling Blue
Kel, I completely understand what you're going through - from every perspective. My hubby has also been known to say, 'So quit' whenever I have gotten frustrated at work. The truth is, he means it to be supportive, but I am usually left feeling like quitting would be a cop-out. I am also the workaholic type, and need to feel like my contributions to the company are making a difference. In my field, that can be very difficult (I'm a corporate communications manager).
I can't agree more with what JennRenee said about using a sick day to renew yourself, and re-charge your spirit. I think taking some time away from work will do you good. Hang in there woman! I am sure this funk will pass as quickly as it has come. If you need to chat, just email...

Awwww, Kel!! You worry too much!!
You need to take a real vacation!! Although Mohonk is just a few short weeks away!!! Try not to let it bring you down. Believe me, I know how frustrating it can be when you're not ecstatic about your job!!
E-mail me, too, if you really wanna vent!! You can say bad words in the e-mail!!

Re: Feeling Blue
Lots of hugs go to you. Can I ask what you do?? I agree with JennRenee, EVERYONE needs a mental health day. Take that day for you, not with your husband, but YOU!!!! I had a job where I was so miserable, and it was right before my wedding, and I would literally go home and cry. It was only a temporary position, but I was so sad There was nothing anyone could do or say to make me feel better, but the things I did for myself?? Is it the people you work with, or just the type of work nyou do that makes you sad?? Maybe a carrer change?? LOTS OF HUGS!!!!!

Re: Feeling Blue
Kel, Don't let it get the best of you. Is it one or 2 particular people that get you down at work? Is it one project that youre having trouble with ? Try looking for support at work, maybe meet with people that can give you work-related advice that have been there (if its a work related issue..) If its a person or 2, maybe they are jealous of your position and try to beat you down. I know its hard, but try not to let it get to you.
I couldnt agree more with the girls here, take a mental health day. Plan something fun, pamper yourself, and no one at work needs to know your business....
HUGS !!

Re: Feeling Blue
Kel,
I feel the same way sometimes ... I think a lot of us do, but like you, I need to vent my frustrations and sometimes my DH understands and sometimes he just acts 'male'! Try not to let things bother you, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and things usually do turn around! I've been on the verge of quitting many times - but never mean it!
I hope things work out for you!

Re: Feeling Blue
You ladies are all so sweet. Thank you so much for your kind words. It's not that I hate my job .. I love it .. it's what I've always wanted to do, believe it or not. And while my immediate 'supervisor' is a difficult person to deal with, this issue is really about me not being happy with my own productivity. It sort of feels like something that used to come so naturally is now causing me to second-guess myself because I've hit a rough spot.
