Feeling mundane...

Feeling mundane...

Does anyone from time to time feel that married life can get mundane? I realized that probably 1/2 of my life now is consumed now with laundry, cleaning bathroom grout, gardening, cooking, doing dishes, taking items to the 'dump', etc. What did I do with myself when I was single? One of my single friends asked me what I did this past weekend and when I answered, the only cool thing she said I did was hang with my brother and his wife?!? It struck me how much energy it takes to keep a house and a relationship maintained! Not that I didn''t already know but wow, it never really hit me until she said it. I''m like 'Gee, I must really be lame or something?!?'. Is this it? I''m not envious of the wild times the singles still have because I had my own fun (back in the day), but it makes me a little confused when single friends my age are still partying, taking trips to Vegas, etc. and all I''m concerned about is getting the yard re-seeded. Am I the one with the messed up priorities? Am I the one that''s missing out on 'life'? Not life without my husband, just life in general - not letting it slip you by, that kind of stuff. Don''t mind me, just having a moment!:)

The house DOES take up a lot of time! We are also seeding the front and back this weekend. Just picked up a spreader last night! Whoo Hooo! Everyday I pray for water so my garden will grow and then check to see if I have any new flowers when I get home. After only six months I've now started to let the laundry pile up. I used to always have to have an empty hamper. BUT we are still having fun, its fun work and we are doing it together. Miss the single gals, but the companionship only. I used to go crazy on the weekends, out till all hours, etc. But I had nothing to do but recuperate the next day. NOW... I have a stocked liquor cabinet, wine rack and cases of beer on hand in the basement- I can have a party every night right!? Wrong, I have NO interest anymore. We have to get enough shut eye and not sleep the days away! :-)

That's so funny because my husband and I are always talking about this kind of stuff. I have a friend from college that lives near me and is always going out partying. And the Vegas comment made me laugh too because last year when we were planning for the wedding I had paid for all the girls BM dresses and was having them pay me back (I placed the order). This same friend told me she couldn't pay me back because she had to pay taxes and she didn't realize it would be so much and she had already bought tickets to Vegas!! She knew she owed me money way before she planned to go to Vegas but bought tickets before she paid me back!
Then I think well she doesn't get it yet, she doesn't have the house to take care of or a dog to look after or major bills to worry about. So we are just at different points in our lives.

I can totally relate :-)

Gee, I`m feeling the same way and we still don`t have a house. Both of us are trying to work as much as possible in order to save and it seems like I see him less than when I lived alone. But I do see his laundry in the hamper! LOL.

I guess this is the next phase...

but I oddly enough it is enjoyable.

Growing pains. LOL everyone.

It doesn't seem like there is enough time at night and on the weekend to get everything done around the house. I have discovered Peapod.com for my grocery shopping. It's great!! It saves the big weekly trip to the supermarket and I get the food delivered during my Saturday morning house cleaning time.

Peapod

I guess it is handy not to have to go out to the store, but I noticed that the prices are a little high, plus I assume you tip for dleivery. But I suppose time is money too!
