Got married a little over 2 weeks ago and we are fighting like cats and dogs. Anyone have any advice?

no advice but i would think it is kinda natural do have some fights especially in the beginning...so try not to stress too much about the disagreements i am sure as time goes on they will lessen up

Did you live together before the wedding? Sometimes that can be a tough transition.

Re: Fighting already?

We did the same thing. It is a big adjustment. It got to the point that I was doubting my decisions about everything. I didn't sign on here because everyone elses happiness just made it all the more harder for me. I felt that my brother that had caused a lot of distress before the wedding was right. We had one big blow up hours before guests were supposed to arrive for a BBQ. I told him forget it. I didn't want to have a party with a sham of a marriage. I think we both realized that what we were fighting about was so tiny in comparison to the every day details of life. I threw a pillow at him and told him to knock off his crap. He busted up laughing with surprise that I was so upset (I would never do that!) and then it completely made us realize how stupid it was. Before we made up, i was completely ashamed of how I felt. It isn't easy. Hang in there. Just remember that the reason you said yes was because you trust him, you love him, and you want to be with him forever!!!!!!

Re: Fighting already?

The first month after coming back down to reality after the HM, it was tough. I even said to DH that this wasn't the way I thought the first couple of months of marriage would be like.

We didn't live together before hand, and we're also an older couple, so being REALLY set in our ways of living alone, made the adjustment difficult (I think more for me).

It took a couple of months to adjust, but now almost 10 months later, I feel more like a newlywed then I did right after the wedding.

I don't have any advice but I do know what you are going through. We didn't live together before we got married and after the wedding we fought alot for the first month or so. After that things settled down and now everything is great

Why? You didn't fight before you got married? Fighting is healthy as long as you do it fair. JMO.

Re: Fighting already?

we were fighting more after the wedding. we had so many extra stresses after the wedding like- me moving so far away from my family, me trying to find a job here, living for a few weeks with his family (ending this friday, thank god!!), dealing with a MIL that just has too much to 'suggest' (most people have this as well, but living in the same house in a tiny room, makes it worse), finding an apartment, boredom for me while he worked long hours and most of all money. things have settled down for the most part, but the first two weeks while all this was going on was miserable.

getting married is an adjustment, it isnt going to be perfect for most people. it is how you make it work and fighting fairly that counts.

good luck!

You have to just make a decision not to fight. If you feel that he is starting with you, tell him flat out I don't want to fight.

Re: Fighting already?

it's really hard when you first start out living together. Me and DH moved in together three years ago and we fought about EVERYTHING. Then you learn to pick your battles. i realized that his (annoying) habit of not changing the toilet paper wasn't worth fighting about. He realized how much it bothers me and now I'd say, 8/10 times he remembers to do it. Things work out in the end, I promise.

But on a lighter note, let me give you some advice I got from a friend in my guestbook no less:

We were fighting all the time. I think the first years is the hardest and then it gets better. It is a huge adjustment. At least for us it was,
