So I was just thinking yesterday how awesome it would be to win the lottery! lol im sure everyone thinks of this prob everyday...just like me, and how nice it would be, and all the things you can do with money like that...
my question today is: If you won a MILLION dollars, what would you do with it??? now remember you only one 1 million!! These days a million doesnt go that far!!!
my answer: I would first pay off all my debt, student loans, credit cards...all that fun stuff that we hate paying every month!!
next i would buy a house! not some super crazy huge house, just the house of our dreams nice size in a nice area, maybe close to the water! prob alot nicer than what we could get without winning the lottery...
Then prob pay off my car, buy DH a nicer newer car, maybe a motorcyle that hes been dying to get, and a cute little boat!!!
The rest...if there is any left we would save! haha!

Probably pay off our entire mortgage and buy a new car. Invest the rest in a safe investment (IE not the stock market)...
Sadly a million bucks isn't what it used to be...

Pay of all of our student loans, buy a house (nothing crazy, but hopefully something nicer than we’re looking at now where EVERYTHING needs to be re-done ), buy a new car (again nothing crazy… but something a little nicer than my ’98 Camry) and give a little bit to my family/close friends.

Well only 1 million I couldn't do what I say I would do if I won the lottery. Honestly if it was only one million I would buy DH a fuel efficient car for going to and from CT and then pay off our mortgage. Anything left over would go into the bank to use later.
If I could win three million though I would give every penny to my parents so my dad could buy back his office building from the bank. He is going to lose it or has to sell it by Feb and that building is his legacy. He is crushed. All they have done for us, DH and I are in complete agreement that its the first thing we would do.

Re: *****FINALLY FRIDAY NQOTD*****
It would definitely help my father pay off his entire mortgage since he's in financial trouble (due to my mom's spending) with the loans as well as credit cards. I feel so bad right now since his house is going up for sale. My younger siblings are devasted since they just started their soph. yr. in hs. It hasn't been a good year for him at all. If I did win a million dollars, I would provide my father with a good amt for retirement and him off to a trip. I know he wants to return to Bermuda since he used to work there. Also, my younger sbilings would be finanically secure in terms of college, etc. and I can pay off my mother's debts. Then, finally use the rest to travel for a bit and start my own business. I would love to start an all in one wedding planning/bridal business.

Re: *****FINALLY FRIDAY NQOTD*****
dh and i already discussed this after our next door neighbor won!
We would do what he did...
He 1.paid off his mortgage 2.put the money into a 5 year CD
This way it would collect interest and he said he wouldnt spend it all too fast and then make mistakes. I think it was the best thing ive ever heard.
However we decided to add to it- after the 5 years we would make a 'college kid fund' and put money away in a longer CD for our kids....
We would buy our parents houses and then buy our own and then the rest goes back into a CD...
We're totally not fun. But we said after all that we would travel around the world

Re: *****FINALLY FRIDAY NQOTD*****
- (1) definitely pay off the mortgage & our HELOC - (2) put some in investment acct like ING or a high rate CD (to save for trips, children, emergencies, etc) - (3) buy a convertible! - (4) buy my dad a small cessna plane - he has always done so much for us & would never buy one for himself - (5) in-laws live in Fla- so would buy them a cheap condo close-by to come up & stay at for the holidays

I would give up the co-op we are looking to buy and definitely buy a house. I would give our parents some money and I would prob set some money aside for my brothers and sister (they range from ages 11 - 6). The rest (if there is any!) would be invested!

Pay off all our debt, buy a bigger, nicer house in a really nice area, and invest some money.

Re: *****FINALLY FRIDAY NQOTD*****
I would save it and not go back to work for several years. We're fortunately doing well enough that right now I'm not working and we're ok (I'm still not licensed to practice in NC -- I'm on my 6-month waiting period). It would be really great to just keep going to the gym every morning and cooking every afternoon for a whole lot longer without feeling guilty about it.
I'd try to save some to help my cousins with their college educations too. But like you all said, that isn't as much money as it once was... but it'll probably keep me from having to work for about 5 years easily.

I would save and invest it.
Of course, buy a house and just live a reasonable life. We would still work and keep everything as normal as possible.
