FIOS or Cablevision.....?

Which is better / more economical?

We got price quotes online, and they were basically even... and both seemed like a LOT of money!

Being a grownup scuks! LOL!

After having Cablevision for the past 17 years (in all of my 'single girl' apts), DH and I made the swtich to FIOS in January when we moved into the house.

LOVE IT!!! We definitely get more channels for less money. The On Demand blows Cablevision away and I love the multi-room DVR.

The only downside so far, you need a box for each TV. Other than that - no problems at all.

Does your mom have either service? What about if you split the bill with her?

I have Fios and highly recommend it.

My mom has Cablevision, its so slow, I can't even STAND it. When I go to look at the channel guide it takes 20 minutes to load.

I would go with FIOS. It was a little bit more for us to go with them (mainly because we have DVR service for all our tv's and you can't do that with Cablevision), but we've had Cablevision in the past and they were horrible from day 1. Literally from the moment of our attempted first installation we had nothing but problems from them. The worst customer service ever, bad product. FIOS is so much better on all levels.

Just curious, why can't you have the DVR for all tv's? We have it for 3 out of the 4 tv's in our house with cablevision. If we wanted to get the fourth would we not be able to?

i have dvr on both boxes in the house

Right now I have time warner, (I don't live in LI), and we are switching to Fios. We got a really good deal, internet, phone and cable for 89.99 a month for 2 years, with taxes and crap comes out to around $112 or so. Cheapest way to go, at least in my area.

It's not that we couldn't, it's that you have to pay extra for each one, but with FIOS you have one, but then you can stream to other TVs in the house without having to get more DVR boxes. So I think their DVR service costs a little bit more per month because they don't get you with the extra equipment charges.

Same complaint we had with Cablevision! Both DH and I had Fios in our parents house and when we moved we didnt have FIos in our area so we were forced to get Cablevision. DH stalked Verizon's web site for when it would be available in our area. Seriously the week after it was installed in our area, we had a tech here installing it in our home. It was also cheaper for us.

we have fios.
it took like 6 hours when the guy came to install it but he was really hot-- (it was before i was engaged!!! ) I enjoyed every min of it - plus i think thats how i got dh rolling on buying a ring.
i think the picture looks a lot better than cable and internet is a lot faster.
i miss about cable is the caller id on the tv when the phone rings.
