soooo DH wants to rent a house on FI for his 30th bday in july.... has anyone ever done this? we just want to rent one for the weekend, not the whole week... like maybe a thurs-sunday... is this possible? i know a lot of the rentals are week long, but cant we just do a long weekend?
also - where can i look on the internet to see rental listings?

I have had a lot of friends do the rental thing in FIre Island...you should be able to find a house for a weekend usually I think they do a month or they do a week, but sometimes you can find Th-Sun. You just type in which part of Fire Island you want to go to in Google or something and it should pull it up, also Craigslist is a good source too to find shares.

DH's family actually just did this the week of our wedding and the week after. I believe it was a 3 or 4 bedroom at Davis Park. I am not sure how much it was for the week-I think around $1000 for the week. I may be totally off but I can ask when they get home. Davis Park is right across from Patchogue. In Bay Shore there is Ocean Beach and Ocean Bay Park-those are nice and probably a little more expensive but they have restaurants and shops along the boardwalk. Davis Park has 1 restaurant and 1 shop. Good luck!

look on Craigs list. They usually make you do it for a week and it is not cheap. How many people would be chipping in?
