First dance with Hubby - did BP join in or no?

I really want my first dance with FH to be just us. My sister regrets that her DJ talked almost the entire way through their song and then the BP joined in. But i get nervous that 2 minutes with all eyes on us will be like 'ahhhh!'.
What did you guys do?

We didnt' really have a BP--Just MOH and BM, but we danced our first dance all alone. I think it should be taht way. And people will be looking at you all day!! It's your wedding!! You're the bride!!

It was just us..& it was the LONGEST 3 minutes of our lives!! But, I wouldn't changed it!

It was just the two of us. And even though I'm not too crazy about being the center of attention, during that dance I didn't even notice that anybody was watching us. We were in our own little world

BP did not join because none of them were couples and we thought that would be awkward for them (many of them were married to other people!)

We asked the band to invite our guests up to join us within a minute or two into the song because we did not want the attention to be on us trying to dance!

we had people join in halfway, and thats one thing i regret. Cuz (even though it was funny) two of our GM danced together and everyone was laughing at them, so on the video you can't even hear our song. So i wish we kept it just us.
But then again, i really didn't want everyone looking at us for 3 minutes.

We did not have them join in.
But, we couldn't choose between two songs for our first dance, so we told the band whichever one they chose was fine with us.
So what they did - as a surprise to us - was play the one song for just the two of us to dance to, and then they played the second song and asked EVERYONE to join us on the dance floor.
It was a really sweet moment, and you can see on the video that most of the people were on the dancefloor with us.

I was at a wedding recently where the couple chose a faster song for their first dance, and they weren't slow dancing, they were having a good old time on the dance floor, after everyone watching them for a little bit, the DJ invited the bridal party to dance with them, and a short while later, invited everyone else.
It took people by surprise though, and I dont' know if everyone heard the DJ invite everyone onto the dance floor, because Tom and I were the only two people not in the BP to join in the dancing!

no, they joined us on our second dance.

Our 1st dance was a short song, so it wasn't so bad. Only 2 1/2 min long. The second song was long, so we had the BP & then the family join in .... it was nice.

Ditto to that as well!

We had a second song played where we asked all the guests to come up.

But even if we didnt have a choregraphed dance, I still would not have a bridal party dance. As a bridesmaid, I never really felt comfortable dancing with a strange guy when my boyfriend/husband was sitting at his table. I think people have more fun when they are not forced to do something they wouldnt naturally do.

Yes.

Our first dance, my husband and I danced to it for the first 2 minutes, then the band asked our parents to join us, then the BP and then she asked for everyone to join, that there is a saying for how each couple that dances with the us (my husband and I) will be a year of health and happiness.

Our first dance was just us...then our second dance invited bridal party, then anyone who wanted to dance! I wanted 3 minutes of that dancefloor all to myself with my hubby.

they didn't join us because our song was too short. it wasn't what DH wanted, but the DJ came up to us before the reception started and was like, 'your song is too short, pick a second one for everyone to dance to' it worked out.

Just us. I didn't want anyone else on the dance floor for our first song. That was our moment.

We danced alone for the first dance. We WANTED people to join in, because both of us hate dancing, but no one would do it!

We danced alone for about 2-3 minutes before the band emcee asked others to join in. I told her we wanted the song mostly to ourselves.

Nope. DH and I wanted to be the spotlight on the dance floor dazzling our guests with our attire and footwork. We're glad we had our first dance alone! It felt good to be prince and princess for a day.

It's your day and you only have things go your way once. To each their own.
