Since we will be away this weekend, I am surprising my husband by using our Fondue set for the first time. I picked up the melting chocolate from Party City and I picked up the strawberries this am I cannot wait. This am I came in and I get these email from Recipe.com and today's link was all fondue related. I will let you all know how it works out and if he liked it.
This is my set from Crate and Barrel, mine came with 4 plates and 2 fondue forks, I am so excited

Re: FONDUE ANYONE!!!
Romantic Pairings with Chocolate and Fruit Stoke the flames of romance with some luscious, exotic fruit paired with succulent chocolate. What could be more stunning and seductive than serving a chocolate tart blanketed with an array of beautifully arranged exotic fruit? Or how about dunking bite-size morsels of sweet-tart tropical fruit into a pot of chocolate fondue -- the ultimate in deep-dark lush seduction? We have recipes and a few little secrets to share so you can stun and satisfy the sweetest desires of that special someone.
Exotic Fruit Tarts Elegant and enticing, an exotic fruit tart is sure to take that special someone's breath away. Although such a gorgeous dessert commands a premium price in bakeries and patisseries, it's quite simple to make. Choose several different kinds of fruit with contrasting colors and shapes. Try kiwi, mango, cherimoya (star fruit), papaya and pomegranate seeds. Avoid bananas, apples, pears and anything else that will turn brown after slicing. Take the time to slice all the fruit evenly and neatly, and then arrange them into beautiful rows on top of the tart.
Ever wonder how to get that glistening finish that professionally made tarts all seem to have? Well, it's actually super easy! All you need to do is take a great big spoonful of your favorite fruit jelly (some popular choices: apricot, lemon curd and red currant) and melt it in a little saucepan over low heat. To add a touch of sophistication, pour in a splash of hazelnut, orange or coffee liqueur. Brush the melted jelly mixture over your beautifully arranged fruit with a pastry brush, and then just allow it to set up. Garnish with a few sprigs of lush green mint, and wait for the gasps of delight and sighs of contentment to come!
Celestial Chocolate Fondue Plunging exotic fruit into the depths of a warm lake of creamy chocolate is nothing less than heavenly. A rainbow of juicy, slightly tart tropical fruit skewered on a silver fork is just the thing to contrast with the rich, dusky robe of chocolate fondue. There are a few common pitfalls that can turn your satiny-sweet chocolate lagoon into a bitterly burnt and coagulated pit of despair, but it's easy to avoid them when you're armed with a little chocolate know-how! First you should know that chocolate shouldn't get hotter than 118 degrees F (48 degrees C) or it will begin to curdle. You can test the temperature by tasting it; it ought to be just a little warmer than your (or your dinner guest's) lips!
For perfect results, start the fondue on the stove. Chop the chocolate into small pieces and combine it with the cream in a small saucepan. Stir it constantly over low heat, just until it's completely melted, and then mix in any other flavorings and liqueurs you'd like to add. Now all that's left is to pour it into the fondue pot, light the burner and let your heart ignite. So simple. So good.

MEN!! Get one anyways and show him what one can do. lol.
Get a mini one from bbb for like $15 to $20 and you he will love it.
do you just melt the chocolate? or do you have to put anything in there to mix with it?
I made choc covered strawberries a few weeks ago and was wondering about fondue...

Re: FONDUE ANYONE!!!
With fondue I always use a little bit of heavy cream. If you like you can always add a little of chocolate liqour, like godiva liquor, thats what I always do.
My DH wanted a fondue set & got one from his parents for xmas.

Re: FONDUE ANYONE!!!
Shamma I broke out my Fondue pot yesterday too. We had another couple and my sister over for dinner and I made cheese fondue for apps and choc. fondue for dessert. Super duper yummy. You can also melt Nestle choc. chips (9oz of chips w/ 1/2 cup of heavy creme) and that makes a delicious dessert fondue.

We used ours on V-Day and it was great! So romantic! I have a ceramic and metal fondue (ceramic was $5 at Farberware tent sale last summer and the metal was a wedding gift!). YUM! I'm going to make it again tonight when we have friends over.
